Christina Hall Says Josh Hall Was ‘Very Hard to Film With’ on the Set of HGTV’s ‘The Flip Off’
Christina Haack (previously known as Christina Hall) opened up about her time filming her new show, The Flip Off, with estranged husband Josh Hall and claimed that he was “very hard to film with.”
The Christina in the Country host, 41, said that Josh, 44, “didn’t get it,” referring to their time in front of the cameras.
“He’d always get upset with me, like, ‘Oh, my gosh, you did this,’ or ‘You did that.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m making a TV show,’” Christina said during an interview with Us Weekly published on Thursday, January 9. “Ultimately, it was better that he left after episode 1 because the show would’ve sucked.”
Christina, along with her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and his wife, Heather El Moussa, began filming The Flip Off before she parted ways with Josh, but the Christina on the Coast star admitted that filming the series “probably just sped [their split] up.” She also claimed that Josh’s “insecurity” affected the way he acted on set.
“If I would laugh at Tarek, I would get the silent treatment for a week,” Christina told the outlet. “Somebody with more confidence would be able to say, ‘This is my wife, but yes, she does this for TV. She was filming with Tarek when I met her.’ There was a rationale there that didn’t make sense. You know what you signed up for. I’m your wife, and I’m choosing you, but you’re choosing to make my life harder over insecurities.”
Christina also confessed that she has “no respect” for the former Texas realtor.
“This isn’t Josh’s show,” the HGTV star explained. “No one’s going to miss that he’s not in it. Josh is not a TV host, he’s not a house flipper, he’s not a designer. He was just my husband in it. With Tarek, we built everything together, and I still have respect for him. I have no respect for Josh.”

Christina said that she’s “not nervous” to watch The Flip Off even though fans will get to watch her breakup with Josh play out on their TV screens. She described the moments as “real and raw” and “different than anything else” she’s ever filmed before.
“There are definitely some very emotional scenes,” Christina told the publication.
Heather, 37, and Tarek, 43, were also present for the interview, and while the former Selling Sunset star said she and Tarek were “very friendly” with Josh, the atmosphere while filming was “better” once Josh made his exit.
“Not to be mean, but he definitely didn’t have the best personality. So it’s like a breath of fresh air. And [Christina is] in a really good place,” Heather admitted.
Things between Josh and Christina turned messy shortly after they both filed for divorce in July 2024. Since then, the two have taken shots at one another on social media and Christina even claimed that Josh transferred $35,000 out of her bank account without her knowledge. Josh filed court documents in August 2024 in response and accused Christina of making “misrepresentations” while agreeing to return the sum.
“I have historically been responsible for managing both properties, which Christina gave me complete access to,” Josh said in the court documents filed in August 2024 and viewed by Life & Style. “I always acted as a fiduciary to the properties, and I helped increase the rental income profits. Following our separation, I intended to continue acting in the best interest of the properties until our dissolution was finalized.”
He added, “All of the service providers have only ever worked with and communicated with me; never with Christina. I also purchase and restock supplies in the home. This is a 24-acre property and it requires a significant amount of maintenance and upkeep, which I have historically handled. I travel from California to visit the Tennessee properties at least once each month to ensure all maintenance is handled. For over two years, I have always been responsible for paying all of these expenses, from the LLC account.”
Josh recently took to Instagram on January 6 and said that the drama on The Flip Off was “manufactured,” but Christina quickly clapped back at his claims.
“Manufactured?!” Christina wrote via her Instagram Stories the same day. “Pretty sure no one at Hgtv told you to be rude to me…. That was all natural.”
