Christina Hall Claps Back at Josh Hall’s ‘Manufactured Drama’ Claim With Tearful Selfie Before Divorce
Christina Haack (formerly known as Christina Hall) clapped back at her estranged husband Josh Hall’s claim that HGTV “manufactured drama” for their show The Flip Off.
After Josh, 44, took to his Instagram Stories on Monday, January 6, to slam the network for teasing a fight between the exes ahead of the show’s January 29 premiere, Christina, 41, reshared his message by writing, “Manufactured?!”
“Pretty sure no one at Hgtv told you to be rude to me…. That was all natural,” her post, which was also posted on January 6 via her own Instagram Stories, continued.
Christina furthered her argument by sharing a selfie of her crying in a car, which she took after filming the show in the summer of 2024. “This was taken June 21, 2024,” she wrote alongside the snapshot. “After one of my shoots with Josh. This is ‘real’ and a reminder to myself that I deserve better.”
The Christina on the Coast star clapped back at Josh shortly after he uploaded a screenshot of an article that teased a “tense fight” between them that was promised to be featured on The Flip Off. “[That feeling when] you can’t get enough ratings with celebrity designers, so you rely on manufactured drama with me, a nobody. @hgtv, you’ve changed,” he wrote in response to the story.
The upcoming HGTV show was originally supposed to follow Christina and Josh competing against her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and his current wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, in a house flipping competition. However, Josh was removed from the show after both he and Christina filed for divorce in July 2024.

Several clips from the upcoming show have teased the problems in Christina and Josh’s marriage, including a teaser in which they were seen having a tense argument during a car ride. The clip showed Josh having a mostly one-sided conversation before he eventually told his then-wife to “shut up.”
“This is a competition. We gotta pull out all stops. Whatever it takes to win, I’ll do it. Halls rule!” he told her as remained silent while sitting in the passenger seat. “You’re supposed to say it with me, or repeat it, or something that shows that you’re with me.”
Despite the mother of three’s decision to remain quiet, Josh continued to tell her, “Remember you’re a Hall now. Don’t get confused in this competition about what your last name is.”
He went on to call her “rude” for not responding to him, and Christina defended her silence by replying, “I don’t over talk.”
Before Josh slammed HGTV for allegedly editing the issues in their relationship on the show, he reflected on the difficult lessons he learned in 2024 amid their divorce.
“2024 was a tough year but it’s taught me a lot. It helped me grow and be stronger than I’ve ever been,” he wrote via Instagram on January 1 alongside a photo that captured him lounging in a pool. “Sometimes the tough situations can change you. You end up becoming a different person. A better version of yourself.”
Josh added the struggles “opened [his] eyes to many things.”
“Even though it was tough, I know that it taught me many lessons and for that I’m grateful,” he continued. “I always tell myself that God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers.”
