‘Riverdale’ Costars Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart Split After 2 Years of Dating
*Cries in Bughead.* After two years of dating, Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart have split, Us Weekly confirms. Despite putting on cheerful faces for fans at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday, July 21, the publication reports that Lili, 22, and Cole, 26, kept their distance from each other.
Additionally, a source told Us that Cole was overheard “telling a pal” of the somber news, right before leaving an Entertainment Weekly event with Riverdale costars KJ Apa and Camila Mendes. That said, it looks as though the former flames have decided to remain friends … for now, anyway.
Taking to her Instagram Story just one hour before news of the breakup hit, Lili posted a picture of the pair posing at the popular convention. She then posted two additional snaps, zooming in on Cole’s goofy expression. Beyond that, the Hustlers actress shared a seemingly lighthearted post of herself sitting between KJ and Cole during Riverdale’s Comic-Con panel. “Please don’t put me between these two ever again,” Lili captioned the photo.
Because Lili and Cole play onscreen lovers, their IRL relationship became that much more captivating to fans of the high school drama. So much so, that the internet is pretty devastated right now! “OMG! No, no, no,” one person tweeted about the news. “It’s going to make for an awkward season 4,” added another.
A third person chimed in with, “I don’t even watch Riverdale and I gasped,” while a fourth echoed, “Guys, Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse broke up … and there is nothing else to root for anymore!!” Sigh. We hear that. It’s always a bummer to see young love come to an end. Here’s hoping Lili and Cole will get back together … or at the very least, don’t let their split get in the way of their romance on Riverdale.
