It’s been quite a few months for singer Demi Lovato. She suffered from a near-fatal drug overdose at her home in California this past July and has been on the mend since. She is currently 90 days sober, but has decided to stay at a Utah rehab facility for the rest of the year, a friend told Radar.

“Demi wanted to leave Utah recently, because she felt guilty for letting her fans down and canceling the rest of the tour that she was on when she overdosed,” a source close to the 26-year-old said. The source continued, “But after much consideration, Demi’s mom Dianna was able to convince her to stay put for now. For now, Demi is just focusing on her treatment.” Don’t feel bad, Demi — the fans want you to get better!

Demi’s family and friends have been quiet about her situation until now. Demi’s mom, Dianna De La Garza, revealed how the pop star is doing during her appearance on Conversations With Maria Menounos on Friday, Oct. 26. She said, “I couldn’t be more thankful or more proud of her because addiction being a disease, it’s work. It’s not easy. There are no shortcuts.” We’re glad her momma is there to help her through this tough time!

Staying sober has not been easy for the “Skyscraper” singer and she has always been open and honest with her fans about how tough her life has been. In an emotional Instagram post from August 2018, Demi wrote, “I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet. I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.”
