Sometimes getting new ink is the perfect distraction when going through a breakup. At least that seems like the case for Demi Lovato. The 27-year-old got a new tattoo days after her split from ex Austin Wilson.

The pop star got a tattoo of a woman being lifted by birds on her back. Alessandro Capozzi, who is the tattoo artist behind the beautiful work of art, described the piece as “divine feminine,” and it has a pretty powerful meaning.

“We created this piece together to represent a rebirth of the spirit,” read Alessandro’s caption, which was posted on December 24. “The dark wings represent the bad times, their fading away is how she moved forward. The light from within represents the inner strength necessary for the change and the doves, pulling her up, symbolize the reach of a higher state of consciousness. Congratulations on your inspiring journey Demi, honored to have represented this for you.”

Demi was over the moon with her new tattoo. “Thank you so much. It’s incredible and you are extremely talented,” she replied to him in the comments.

The Disney alum has been through a lot. Most recently, she and Austin called it quits after a month of being together, according to Us Weekly.

The “Tell Me You Love Me” crooner’s Insta feed further suggests that she’s single now. She deleted the few photos she had with Austin. Demi also direct messaged a fan about their breakup. “Please don’t go after him,” the brunette beauty told the Lovatic. “He’s a good guy. Much better than what people see on the outside just because he’s got a lot of tattoos.” Plus, she added, “Breakups are hard for both parties involved. Just stay nice and say prayers.”

“I am OK. God is on my side.” Demi replied after the fan sent their support. “Thanks, boo. Hope you like the new music soon!”

The singer has been teasing her forthcoming music for some time now. On December 4, she shared a blank photo with a cryptic message. “The next time you hear from me, I’ll be singing….” she wrote at the time. We can’t wait!
