Feeling good! Demi Lovato gushed over her powerful trip to Israel that left her feeling energized and at peace. The singer was baptized in the Jordan River, visited historic landmarks and even stopped by a center to volunteer with children who have special needs.

“I am an American singer. I was raised Christian and have Jewish ancestors. When I was offered an amazing opportunity to visit the places I’d read about in the Bible growing up, I said yes,” the 27-year-old began a lengthy Instagram post on October 1 to accompany a slew of incredible photos from her vacation.

The “Confident” singer admitted that the experience helped her to find some things she’s been searching for. “There is something absolutely magical about Israel. I’ve never felt such a sense of spirituality or connection to God … Something I’ve been missing for a few years now,” she continued.

One snapshot showed the former Disney kid hugging someone in the water and it was amazing to see her smiling from ear-to-ear. “Spirituality is so important to me … to be baptized in the Jordan river — the same place Jesus was baptized — I’ve never felt more renewed in my life,” Demi explained about the special moment.

The brunette beauty completed the candid post by writing, “This trip has been so important for my well-being, my heart and my soul. I’m grateful for the memories made and the opportunity to be able to fill the God-sized hole in my heart. Thank you for having me, Israel.”

Demi has been making huge strides to live a healthy and happy life since her near-fatal overdose in summer 2018. She’s been surrounding herself with positive people, including former Bachelorette star Hannah Brown. “She’s so great. I’m just really thankful for her support through everything,” the Alabama beauty gushed about her newfound friendship with the songstress during a group interview on the Dancing With the Stars set on September 30. “I mean, she is always there. … That’s what I need right now is just a friend that is supportive of — and understanding of — what, like, this new life has been and she knows it on a much bigger level than I do.”

The Bachelor Nation babe added, “She needs friends just like we all do and I need friends just like everyone does and so it’s great to have somebody who can be a guidance of this new life and then just somebody who’s so loving and different.”

Keep living your best life, Demi!
