On Oct. 11, news broke that Selena Gomez will be entering a treatment facility following an “emotional breakdown” during the singer’s recent hospitalization. In the days since, Selena’s longtime friend Demi Lovato has reportedly reached out to the 26-year-old with words of love, support, and encouragement.

“This just breaks Demi’s heart — but she definitely understands what Selena is going through more than anyone right now,” a family insider revealed to Radar Online. “She has spoken to [Selena] and will continue to be there for her just as Selena was there for Demi following her overdose,” the insider added. For those of you who are unaware, Demi suffered a near-fatal drug overdose in July that led to her immediate hospitalization and later, rehabilitation.

While it did take some time for Selena to publically comment on Demi’s overdose, the pop star eventually broke her silence a month later.  “All I’m saying is, I reached out personally. I didn’t do a public thing. I didn’t want to. I… I love her. I’ve known her since I was seven. So… it’s… that’s what I’ll say,” she explained to Elle.

In addition to Selena and Demi holding each other up, it seems that their mothers are doing the same. “Demi’s mom, Dianna, and Selena’s mom, Mandy, have been close friends forever too. Dianna has definitely been a huge source of support and strength for Mandy this week just as Mandy has always been for her,” the insider continued to Radar. “It’s just been so hard to watch their kids suffer right now, especially after they were so sure that Selena and Demi had overcome their demons.”

On a more positive note, however, Demi’s little sister, Madison, recently revealed that Demi is “doing really well” and “working really hard on her sobriety.” As for Selena? “She realized she needed to seek additional help for her ongoing emotional issues. She’s surrounded by close family and has a lot of support. She’s doing better now and is seeking treatment on the East Coast,” a source told People. Our continued thoughts and prayers go out to Demi and Selena during this difficult time in their lives. You got this, ladies! Stay strong.
