Emily Maynard Subtly Shades Arie Luyendyk Jr. on Instagram and Fans Are Living for It
It’s no secret that Bachelor star Arie Luyendyk Jr. got a s–t ton of backlash after he broke up with Becca Kufrin and agreed to film the entire, unedited heartbreak for Bachelor Nation to watch. Yet the hate isn’t just coming from fans or the women who vied for his heart earlier this season, but also his ex-girlfriend and former Bachelorette star, Emily Maynard! Emily and Arie met in 2012 on Season 8 of The Bachelorette and really hit it off as he made it to the finale and was ready to propose. But, she broke up with him before he could pop the question and since then, the former race car driver hasn’t been hesitant to talk about the experience.
Arie told People in November 2017, “It was really hard for me to get over that relationship. But I learned a lot about myself and how deeply I could love somebody. It made me want to do it again.”
The 36-year-old continued, “The last time I was really in love was with Emily. So I think it’s natural to find a wife on the show because that’s the last time I was ready for an engagement.”
And while Arie may have never gotten down on one knee for Emily and made a mistake in choosing Becca, he’s now engaged to this season’s 26-year-old runner-up, Lauren Burnham. Not only that, but he claimed the couple is ready to officially tie the knot as soon as possible. He said, “We want to get married soon, and we also talked about eloping. We’ve talked about running away to Vegas.”
But eloping isn’t set in stone or any wedding plans for that matter. “We’re talking about an evening wedding or a sunset wedding. Lighting is important. Lots of flowers,” he added. “We talked a little bit about maybe doing a TV wedding if that works with our timeline.”
