Look out, Megyn Kelly — Girl With No Job Is Coming for Your ‘Today’ Show Gig!
There’s a good chance that Megyn Kelly’s days on Today are numbered. In its first few weeks, Megyn Kelly Today, led by the former Fox News host, has struggled to gain an audience. And now, a couple of social media influencers are gunning for her hour.
Claudia Oshry — better known to the Internet as Girl With No Job — has created a petition asking NBC to replace Megyn with her and sister Jackie Oshry, aka Jackie O Problems. The 23-year-old Instagram star and her sis currently co-host the viral morning show, The Morning Breath, from the Oath offices in NYC. “NBC, REPLACE MEGYN KELLY WITH THE MORNING BREATH,” the page reads. They listed 1,000 signatures as their goal, and in just one day, they’ve gotten over 3,500.
The Oshry girls aren’t just in search of a new job — they want to put an end to the conservative host’s reign for a reason. The petition states, “Are you tired of awkward silences and teleprompter flubs? Does Megyn Kelly make you sad and uncomfortable? Then sign this petition and give @TheMorningBreath gals a shot at the most prestigious hour of the TODAY Show!” It seems a lot of people agree, as the page boasts hundreds of supportive comments.
It would be an interesting move by NBC, though not entirely out of the realm of possibility when you consider Claudia’s insane following — 2.7 million followers on her Girl With No Job account, over 100K on her personal Instagram, and 1.4 million on her husband Ben Soffer (Boy With No Job)’s affiliated page. Then again, The Morning Breath is small compared to the national show, averaging around 20K views per episode on Facebook since it launched this past spring.
Either way, Megyn Kelly Today is in big trouble. Life & Style previously reported that the program was struggling to land A-list stars, and in this week alone, viewership slipped from 0.77 to 0.54 points. “It’s a possible all-time low for Today. It may even be lower than her [Fox] cable show,” a Page Six source reported. “That’s a big drop. They have to turn this around.”
The show’s poor ratings are even impacting the usually popular fourth Today hour, Kathie Lee & Hoda, which fell 26 percent. Many insiders are said to be blaming that on Kelly’s “weak lead-in.” Still, another NBC insider insisted the series is bouncing back. “Megyn’s having a strong week. Her numbers are up double-digits versus last week,” the insider concluded.
