Just when it seemed like Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton were ready to get married, some unfortunate “obstacles” have gotten in the way. According to a source who spoke to Us Weekly, there are some things stopping them from taking the next step in their relationship.

They “are on the path to getting married,” the insider told the outlet, but first  “there are obstacles they have to deal with.” The couple is doing everything in their power to pull through, though. On February 9, “Gwen and Blake met with her priest for a counseling session,” added the source.

Whatever the roadblocks are, the pop star, 49, and the country singer, 42, have been going strong for some time now, so we’re hoping they can make it through. The two started dating in 2015, after both got divorced from previous partners. Prior to dating Blake, Gwen was married to singer Gavin Rossdale. The two share three children together — Kingston, 12, Zuma, 10, and Apollo, 4. On the other hand, Blake was married to country star Miranda Lambert for four years.

While Blake doesn’t have any kids of his own, he does understand how important they are to the “Hollaback” singer, and loved playing stepdad. Gwen resides in LA with her sons, while Blake travels back and forth between his home in Oklahoma and LA in order to make their relationship work.

Despite their issues, the couple is in no rush to walk down the aisle. “There is zero pressure [to get engaged] … when there’s trauma, the way that we had trauma back in the day,” Gwen said on Today in December 2018, referring to their exes. “Going through all these hard times, [you] get to a place where you find somebody that’s like your best friend, that you know you can depend on and trust and go through life — we’re just trying to be in the moment as much as we can,” the mother-of-three gushed. That’s the attitude!
