Iggy Azalea Reveals She Has a Son: ‘I Want to Keep His Life Private’
Rapper Iggy Azalea revealed she has a son, whom she’s kept private from the public eye until now. “I kept waiting for the right time to say something, but it feels like the more time passes, the more I realize I’m going to feel anxious to share news that giant with the world,” she wrote on her Instagram Story on Wednesday, June 10.
“I want to keep his life private, but wanted to make it clear he is not a secret and I love him beyond words,” she continued.
Iggy reportedly welcomed her baby boy with boyfriend and fellow rapper Playboi Carti (real name: Jordan Carter) in April. However, she has yet to confirm paternity.
There were reports Iggy was pregnant in December 2019, but she seemingly shut down the rumors when she shared a photo of herself showing off her bikini body.
Iggy and Playboi Carti met in 2018 and since then have had their fair shares of ups and downs. In December 2019, Iggy referred to herself as “single” on an Instagram Story. Two weeks later, she took back her statement.
“I need to make an apology,” the “Fancy” artist wrote at the time. “It’s not my character to put out whatever business I go through in my private life on the internet for the world to comment on. I felt very upset, and I made an [impulsive] choice that I immediately regretted, but it was too late to undo. The truth is that I love Jordan very much, I always will — more than you could ever know. That’s all the world should ever need to hear, and I am sorry for making something public that should always remain between him [and] I, no matter what.”
In July 2019, Playboi Carti spoke candidly about his relationship with Iggy. “Once I started talking to her, I just cut off everybody,” he told The Fader at the time. “It was over with.” He also revealed the couple moved in together in December 2018.
Though Iggy and her rapper beau are both musicians, they don’t plan on collaborating anytime soon. “That’s a whole ‘nother thing,” he added. “I support everything she does.”
