Instagram Suggested Justin Bieber Follow Selena Gomez in a Screenshot He Shared and It’s High-Key Awk
Um, Instagram, you OK? Justin Bieber shared a screenshot from the social media platform and Selena Gomez was strangely one of his suggested follows. The two dated on-and-off since 2009 but they are officially off since the singer married Hailey Baldwin this past year. Needless to say, fans couldn’t help but notice the awkward suggestion.
The “What Do You Mean” singer, 25, pleaded with fans to report an account and help get it removed from the platform. “Please if you are following me please report them as bullying because they are,” he wrote on his Instagram Story on Thursday, April 11. “Making up lies and saying aweful [sic] hurtful things.”
Obviously, Justin and Hailey, 22, have to deal with a lot of negativity from the public and bullying is not OK. However, one more detail about the screengrab really stood out. Underneath the writing, Instagram gave some ~fun~ suggestions for people to follow that included Camila Cabello, Gigi Hadid and none other than the former Disney kid, 26.
The surprising suggestion comes on the heels of the “Love Yourself” singer calling out a troll who claimed the Canadian “only married” his new wife to “get back at” the “Wolves” singer.
“Why would I dedicate my whole life to someone in marriage to get back at my ex,” Bieber fired back. “Anyone who believes this is mean spirited or 10 years old or younger because a logical person doesn’t talk or think this way u should be ashamed of yourself really.”
He didn’t deny ever having feelings for the Wizards of Waverly Place alum, he simply spoke his truth. “I absolutely loved and love Selena,” he acknowledged. “She will always hold a place in my heart, but I am head over heels in love with my wife and she is absolutely the BEST THING that has ever happened to me period.” Tell ’em, Biebs.
As for Instagram, it’s sure to keep the awkward suggestions coming.
