If you’re wondering why Ariana Grande isn’t at the 2019 Video Music Awards, you can blame her busy schedule. The 26-year-old was unable to attend the star-studded show because she’s away touring in Europe.

The songstress posted about the award show on her Instagram Story on August 26, despite not being able to attend. She sent a message of love to Hannah Lux Davis, the director of her “thank u, next” music video after it was recognized for video of the year.

When the “God Is a Woman” singer tweeted her 10 VMAs nominations in July, a fan asked if she was going, and unfortunately, her answer left us all sad. “I have shows in London the day before and after :/” she replied. It looks like Ari is doing so much that she actually got her concert locations mixed up. “You’re in Paris but OK,” a fan tweeted, correcting the pop star, to which she replied, “my b.” On August 25, Ariana had a show in Manchester, and on the 27th, she’ll be in Paris.

While we miss seeing the brunette beauty at the VMAs, her 10 nods make us feel like she’s here in spirit. The “R.E.M.” crooner tied with Taylor Swift this year for having the most nominations. She’s nominated for Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Pop, Best Hip Hop, Best Direction, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography. We see you, girl! ~ We’re sure it feels so good to be so young and have this fun and be successful. ~

A lot has changed since the Disney alum attended the VMAs last year. For starters, she was engaged to Pete Davidson, who accompanied her to the event. She began dating the SNL comedian in May 2018 — shortly after she and Mac Miller split.

In an interview with Vogue published in July, Ari looked back at her relationship with Pete and got candid about why things didn’t work out. “I met Pete, and it was an amazing distraction, Ariana told the outlet. “It was frivolous and fun and insane and highly unrealistic, and I loved him, and I didn’t know him.”

It’s a good thing Ari seems to be in a better place now!
