New music alert? Just hours after Halsey’s incredible performances at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, the “Without Me” singer blacked out both her Twitter and Instagram accounts on Wednesday, May 1. Naturally, social media was abuzz right now trying to figure out exactly what the 24-year-old powerhouse could be dropping.

“What happened to Halsey’s Instagram? I’m scared!” one user wrote on Twitter. “Oh s–t,  Halsey deleted all [of] her Instagram posts … you know some fire is coming!” added another.

As great as it was to see fans come together to try and solve the mystery, hours later, Halsey took to social media once more to reveal that her blackout was to promote two upcoming performance at Webster Hall in NYC. The best part? Fans will only have to wait a couple of days to see the powerhouse singer do her thing on stage.

According to the promo poster, Halsey will be performing songs from her first album, Badlands, on Wednesday, May 8, and songs from her sophomore album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, on Thursday, May 9.

Even so, lots of people thought at the time that Halsey’s interactions with Taylor Swift at the BBMAs may have been to get some advice on how to tease a new project. After all, if there’s anyone who knows how to build anticipation over an album, it’s her!

“[Halsey] must be getting tips from [Taylor Swift] about how to pull off blacking out your social media before releasing new music!” one fan joked.

Furthermore, just like the “Me!” singer, it’s been exactly two years since Halsey has released a full studio album. Hopeless Fountain Kingdom came out in June 2017 and included fan favorites like “Bad at Love” and “Strangers.”

While we can’t be positive, it’s entirely possible that Halsey still has some new music in the works! We’ll just have to wait and see.
