Stunning Australian actress Margot Robbie has taken Hollywood by storm. From The Wolf of Wall Street to Suicide Squad, she's remained in the spotlight for the past few years, most recently earning a slew of nominations for her role in I, Tonya. With her flawless skin and blonde tresses, the star is impossible to miss on the red carpet, which she has a tendency to walk solo — so, does that mean that the star is single?
Nope! The actress simply prefers to keep her love life private, which is why many didn't even know about her wedding until after she tied the knot. The 27-year-old married British producer Tom Ackerely, 28, in December of 2016 in a small town around Australia's Byron Bay. According to People, only 50 people were in attendance for their ceremony, during which the actress wore a cream-colored gown and pulled back her hair into a french braid. On Dec. 18, the star confirmed the wedding whispers with an Instagram post showing off her diamond ring.
The pair sparked engagement rumors in the summer of 2016, three years after they first met back in 2013 on the set of the World War II drama Suite Francaise, where Tom was working as an assistant director — but it wasn't love at first sight. Margot explained that she, Tom, and a few other people who were working on the film all rented out an apartment together, and over time, her friendship with Tom turned romantic.
"I was the ultimate single gal. The idea of relationships made me want to vomit. And then this crept up on me. We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, Oh, he would never love me back. Don't make it weird, Margot. Don't be stupid and tell him that you like him," she confessed. "And then it happened, and I was like, 'Of course we're together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.'"
The couple at the Golden Globes on Jan. 7, 2018.
"My husband and I were roommates before we were even dating, so I'm kind of living with my roommate and it's awesome," the actress gushed to Us Weekly after getting hitched. "We lived with a bunch of people and now we’re just living [as] the two of us, so we feel very grown up now."
Margot hasn't revealed whether or not Tom will accompany her to this year's Oscars, but it would be perfect timing for the two, as she received her first-ever Best Actress nomination for I Tonya, and Tom was also a producer on the flick. We're crossing our fingers that we'll get the chance to see this gorgeous couple dressed to the nines!
