Sorry, Selena Gomez fans! The “Wolves” songstress, 27, looks to be a no-show at the 2019 MTV VMAs on Monday, August 26. This will mark the fourth year in a row that Selena skipped out on the event. That’s right, y’all, the last time the former Disney Channel star attended the Video Music Awards was in 2015 with her longtime bestie Taylor Swift. 

The songstress attended Kacey Musgraves‘ concert at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles one day prior to the award show, which is taking place in New Jersey. The former Disney kid looked like she was having a blast dancing along to the music with her pal, and made no indication that she was planning to jet off the East Coast for the glitzy event.

Considering Selena was nominated for Best Dance for “Taki Taki” with DJ Snake, Cardi B and Ozuna, as well as Best Latin for “I Can’t Get Enough” with Benny Blanco, Tainy and J Balvin, fans were definitely holding out hope that she’d show. That said, the brunette beauty is still very much living her best life! Most recently, she celebrated her birthday in Italy, surrounded by loved ones.

On August 2, Selena took to Instagram to share a thoughtful post about her experience. “Sometimes I can’t express how truly grateful I am. Now … back to work,” she captioned the photo series. Naturally, her diehard stans went wild over that last bit. After all, Selena hasn’t released a studio album since Revival in 2015.

“So happy to see you happy and cannot wait for what’s to come,” one user gushed. “I love you! So proud of you for getting back to work. Rock that new record, girl!” added another. Our sentiments, exactly. 

Selena has clearly come a long way since her November 2018 stay in a rehab facility. “She’s finally in a good place, and happier than ever,” a source told Life & Style in June, adding that Selena is strictly “focusing on the positive.” Here’s hoping that by this time next year, we’ll finally get to see at an awards show again (with plenty of new tunes nominated).
