Jessica Simpson Crushing on Jeremy Renner: ‘There’s a Lot of Unfinished Business There’
Jessica Simpson is enjoying her single status and has been liking and leaving flirty comments on Jeremy Renner’s Instagram.
“There’s a lot of unfinished business there,” a source exclusively tells Life & Style, hinting at reports that Jessica, 44, and Jeremy, 54, had a fling back in 2010 amid resurfaced romance rumors. “She still thinks he’s incredibly sexy and word is, he’s taken another shine to her, too.”
“Jessica never expected to be single in her forties,” the insider exclusively tells Life & Style about the pop star. “But the silver lining in this is finding out she’s still got it!”
The newly separated singer caught the attention of fans by leaving a fire emoji on a March 8 video of him working out shirtless.
The Avengers actor left a flame emoji of his own on her March 21 album release announcement after she took to social media to celebrate the release of her new EP, Nashville Canyon, Part 1.
“#NashvilleCanyon is the result of learning to hear my heart again, free from industry expectations,” Jessica captioned a screenshot of the project at No. 1 on iTunes. “It’s about surrendering, letting my voice be my main guide, and trusting the journey ahead.”
In the comments of the post, Jeremy replied, “Congrats Jess!!!” also adding clapping emojis.
The duo sparked fan gossip over a decade ago after they reportedly made a connection at a party in March 2010.
At the time, People claimed that “Jeremy spent the night hitting on Jessica like crazy,” stating that they exchanged numbers.
The Mayor of Kingstown star later set the record straight about their interaction, claiming they only spoke for “three minutes.”
“Her hair stylist did my mom’s hair so we were talking about that,” Jeremy told Us Weekly at the time, “and then all of a sudden we’re dating!”
Fans were quick to point out that Jeremy and Jessica could be a good potential match considering they both have successful careers in Hollywood and are proud parents. Jeremy is dad to Ava Renner, 11, with ex Sonni Pacheco while Jessica has three children of her own, daughters Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 12, son Ace Knute, 11, and Birdie Mae, 6, shared with estranged husband Eric Johnson.
The “Blame Me” hitmaker announced her separation from Eric, 45, after 10 years of marriage in January 2025.
“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” she said in a statement to People at the time. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
Jessica later revealed that she transmuted her pain into songwriting for her latest project, sharing that the tracks were written during the breakdown of her relationship.
“Through the deepest heartbreak of my life,” Jessica told her sister, Ashlee Simpson, in an interview published in The Cut on February 20, adding, “it was the most intense yet enlightening therapy I’ve ever been through.”
