It looks like Kaitlyn Bristowe is drowning her sorrows the same way we all do: by sobbing to sad breakup songs. On Nov. 2, after months of speculation, the former Bachelorette and her fiancé Shawn Booth finally announced that they’d called off their engagement after three years together. One night earlier, Kait gave a hint that something was up when she posted a video crying in a face mask while “Happier” by Bastille and Marshmello played in the background. Watch the video above to see her meltdown.

It’s hard to blame her; the video is really sad. But then again, the song itself could be significant to Kait right now. With lyrics like “I want to see you smile but know that means I’ll have to leave,” and “we ran our course, we pretended we’re okay, now if we jump together, at least we can swing far away from the wreck we made,” it follows a man who chooses to leave his partner because he knows she’ll be happier in the long run without him.

Kait and Shawn made the sad announcement on Nov. 2. “After three incredible years, we have decided to go our separate ways,” they said in a statement to People. “This difficult decision comes after thoughtful, respectful consideration. Even though we are parting as a couple, we’re very much committed to remaining friends. We have both evolved as people, which is taking us in different directions, but with the hope that we will continue to support each other in new ways.” So, you can probably see how that song would strike a chord with Kaitlyn.

But don’t expect a lot of bitter drama, Bach Nation, because it sounds like the couple has set some ground rules to keep their breakup as amicable as possible. “She won’t give anyone too many details, but they can’t see other people yet,” a source told Us Weekly. Thank god because that would crush us.
