It’s time to celebrate! Kanye West took to Instagram on Tuesday, Oct. 2 to reveal his father’s cancer is in remission, and in honor of his recovery, they ate bugs.

“Overcome fear,” the rapper captioned an Instagram pic showing a plateful of insects. “My dad and I are going to eat this plate of bugs to celebrate him beating cancer. No more fear.”

In July, People confirmed the 41-year-old’s father had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. “Kanye’s dad was diagnosed with cancer and is already receiving treatment,” a Keeping up With the Kardashians source told the mag. “He seems to be responding well to the treatment and everyone is hopeful he will be okay.”

The source added, however, that Kanye didn’t take the news well. “Kanye doesn’t really talk about it. You can tell it’s something that’s very difficult for him.” That said, it was helpful for Kanye — who now wants to be referred to as “Ye” — to lean on his wife Kim Kardashian and their three children — North, 5, Saint, 2, and Chicago, 8 months  — for support.

“When his mom suddenly passed away, Kanye was all alone. Having Kim and the kids around him helps in difficult situations,” the insider revealed at the time. A separate source said, “Kim is helping to support Kanye during this tough time — they are always there for each other.”

The news of Ray’s health battle came 10 years after the “I Love It” rapper tragically lost his mother, Donda West, due to complications after undergoing plastic surgery. Donda and Ray divorced when Kanye was younger, but Kanye was fortunately able to remain close to both of his parents.

We’re thrilled to hear the good news!
