Kim Kardashian Reveals She Paid for Most of Engagement Ring From Ex Kris Humphries
Kim Kardashian looked back on her brief romance with ex-husband Kris Humphries and revealed that she paid for the majority of the engagement ring he gave her.
During the Thursday, March 13, episode of The Kardashians, Kim, 44, reflected on the rings she received during her three marriages. The reality star was married to Damon Thomas from 2000 until 2004, followed by her marriage to Kris, 40, that infamously lasted 72 days following their 2011 wedding. Her third and most recent marriage was to Kanye West, whom she was married to from 2014 until 2022.
“Khloé [Kardashian], should I just start wearing my diamonds again? I wonder what my next ring shape will be — of my last and final hoorah,” Kim asked her sister. “The first one [from Damon] was a cushion cut that was 14 carats.”
She then shared the bombshell about her ring from Kris. “The second I had to give Kris and it was 18 carats,” Kim continued. “I didn’t keep it. I was pregnant with North, still married to him and in order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring in the divorce. The ring that I bought. He contributed a fifth [of the cost].”
While Kim and Kris called it quits just months after their wedding, they legally remained married until their divorce was finalized in April 2013.
Following her split from Kris, Kim moved on with Ye, 47, and they welcomed their first child, daughter North, in 2013. Following their 2014 nuptials, the couple expanded their family by welcoming son Saint in 2015, daughter Chicago in 2018 and son Psalm in 2019.
“But my first one that I got engaged with [during my third marriage], that was the only piece of jewelry I owned that I didn’t take to Paris,” Kim explained, referencing when she was a victim of a 2016 robbery in Paris. “[At one point I] wore both [of my engagement rings] and Kanye told me, ‘Don’t you ever wear both of your rings at the same time. Are you looking to get robbed?’”
Kim concluded the topic by explaining that she planned to give North the engagement ring she received from Ye.

The mother of four has been open about the ups and downs in her love life over the years, including her quick marriage to Kris.
“That whole situation was just really hard for me,” Kim explained of her relationship with the retired basketball player while appearing on a 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “At the time I just thought, ‘Holy s–t, I’m 30 years old, I better get this together. I better get married.’ I think a lot of girls do go through that, where they freak out thinking they’re getting old and all their friends are having kids. So, it was more of that situation. But I knew on the honeymoon it wasn’t going to work out.”
Additionally, Kim previously admitted that she didn’t view her first two marriages as real. “I feel, honestly, [that] my last marriage was my first real [one],” she said on the “Goop” podcast in December 2022. “The first one, I just don’t know what was happening. The second one, I felt like I wanted to be married so badly because all my friends were at that place and that’s where I should have been.”
