Love Is Blind’s Garrett Defends Nick After Reunion and Says Hannah’s Argument ‘Felt Performative’
Love Is Blind star Garrett Josemans had Nick Dorka’s back after he found himself in the hot seat during the season 7 reunion because he said he wasn’t attracted to Hannah Jiles when they met.
“It’s all tough. I give everyone grace here because you’re living a very public life and you’re getting a lot of heat here, especially for the past month,” Garrett, 33, said during an interview with Access Hollywood published on Thursday, October 31. “So, it’s really hard to figure out how to react to that. We just saw the last couple of episodes and everyone’s feeling some type of way, so I give everyone grace for acting the way they did, but at the same time, I felt as though Nick was very patient throughout the entire experiment, which we saw on camera. At the reunion [he did] the same thing.”
He continued, “He tried to defend Hannah and say, ‘We’re different and ready to move on,’ but she still wanted to go at Nick. It felt a bit manufactured and it felt a bit performative. I just didn’t enjoy it. It’s not a good feeling for me. If we’re really here for growth and learning, there’s a better way to go about it than what we’re doing here. It was just frustrating to watch. Afterwards, I was like, ‘Man, I probably shouldn’t have said anything.’”
The quantum physicist also touched on whether or not Nick, 29, ever actually made remarks about Hannah’s looks to him while filming Love Is Blind season 7.
“What’s interesting is that right out of the reveal, pretty much every guy is like … it’s an explosion. You forget what they look like two days later. Truly, it’s really strange. So, everybody was questioning how they look and all these things, so I think everybody kind of had those feelings,” Garrett continued. “But from that moment on, every time I spoke to Nick face-to-face, he always had nothing but nice things to say. I was convinced he was in love with her and was attracted to her and was into it in every conversation I had with him after Cabo.”
Much of the backlash from fans over Love Is Blind season 7 has been aimed at Hannah, 27, and her treatment of Nick. Many believed that she constantly belittled him and some even went as far as to accuse the West Virginia native of being abusive. However, at the reunion, several of the female cast members ganged up on Nick and claimed he made negative comments about Hannah’s looks.
Hannah alleged that Nick asked other cast members to “rate” her looks and even went as far as to call her a “grenade.” After several minutes of Nick going back and forth with Hannah and fellow Love Is Blind star Marissa George, Ramses Prashad cut in.
“If there’s any moment to take accountability for anything, it’s right now,” Ramses, 35, said. “Everybody messes up. Everybody says things that maybe you regret, but like, let’s keep it 100, man. This is not a dig against you, this is the moment to take accountability.”
While the Virginia-based realtor eventually admitted to saying that he was “underwhelmed” with Hannah’s looks, he stood by his claim that he never called her a “grenade.”
