Melissa Rivers Reveals Her Best Dressed Picks for Oscars 2025: Zoe Saldana, Demi Moore and More

Melissa Rivers reveals her best dressed picks for the 97th Academy Awards, exclusively telling Life & Style that Zoe Saldaña and Demi Moore were standouts.

While Melissa, 57, says that Zoe, 46, had the best look of the night in a wine-colored Saint Laurent gown with a strass bodice and skirt in double satin, the first-time Oscar winner was not the only star dressed to impress during the awards show on Sunday, March 2.

Elle Fanning in Givenchy … Selena Gomez in Ralph Lauren,” Melissa says of the other stars who impressed her. “And Demi Moore, who could miss that in Armani Privé.”

Not only did Zoe and Demi, 62, impress Melissa during the recent awards show, but she says they were the most consistently best dressed during the 2025 awards season. “I loved both of those two women at the Golden Globes. I thought Demi’s Golden Globe dress was amazing, and I thought Zoe’s Golden Globes outfit was amazing,” Melissa says. “I mean, for me, those were my two favorites of their looks.”

When it comes to Selena, 32, Melissa says that the Emilia Pérez star proved that she’s come into her own with her Oscars look. Selena looked elegant in an ornate custom Ralph Lauren dress, which was off-the-shoulder and was embellished with over 16,000 glass droplets and Rosemont crystals. Additionally, the Ralph Lauren team airbrushed glass drops on the dress to create a pink ombré color. Selena accessorized the look with Bvlgari jewelry, wearing a platinum collar necklace, diamond earrings and a handful of rings.

“She and Ralph Lauren have some sort of connection,” Melissa says of Selena and the designer. “She always looks great. She walks the line between ladylike, but still really sexy. The color was perfect. The fit was perfect … You can’t say enough about how glamorous and classy she looked.”

The fashion expert adds, “She looked like an adult. She looked like where she is in her life and … she looks confident.”

One look that Melissa didn’t love was Timothée Chalamet’s. The A Complete Unknown actor, 29, wore a custom Givenchy suit made of butter yellow leather. “I think the yellow Givenchy was just a flat out no,” she says. “Completely wrong for the Oscars.”

While she says that Timothée’s look was “a complete and total miss” for her, Melissa admits that she was pleasantly surprised by Jeff Goldblum’s outfit.

“Jeff Goldblum, who is usually a complete and total miss, stayed true to himself, but I thought it was the best version of Jeff Goldblum. He was in Prada. And he was still very much him with the non-traditional [look], because normally, he looks absolutely insane,” she says of the actor, who wore a white suit jacket, black pants, a bold patterned shirt and a black necktie. “And for whatever reason, I looked at him and I went, ‘Wow, he looks really good.’”

Another star that Melissa was surprised by was Kim Kardashian, who attended the Vanity Fair afterparty in a white Balenciaga haute couture ball gown.

After noting Kim’s look was “very, very not on trend,” she points out that the reality star is “smart” and knows how to get people talking.

“Kim in a white ball gown, again, is unexpected. And she’s smart. She knows exactly what she’s doing,” Melissa says. “She knows that is the last thing anyone would expect her to show up in at a party.”
