Nikki Bella Doesn’t Mind That Her Grandma Still Has a ‘Special’ Bond With Ex John Cena
While some may not be into the idea of their relatives being friends with their ex, Nikki Bella is totally fine with it. The 36-year-old’s grandma still keeps in contact with John Cena. Thankfully, it’s not awkward for Nikki at all.
“I think everyone has the right to their own relationships and we don’t even talk about it,” she told Life & Style and other reporters during the PUBG Mobile’s #FIGHT4THEAMAZON to benefit Global Green on December 10. “I let them have their own thing and it’s special.” How sweet and mature of her!
The Total Bellas star went on to reveal that she would never want to come in the way of anyone’s relationship, regardless of what went down between her and that person. “Yeah, I would never, whether it was friends or family or exes, I would never stop relationships because you’re not in that,” she continued. “Life is so short and I think when people have connections, it’s so beautiful.” Nikki and John officially called it quits in July 2018 after roughly six years together. Months later, she started dating Artem Chigvintsev, whom she went exclusive with in July 2019.
Lucky for the 37-year-old Russian native, Nikki’s grandma approves of him. “She had just met Artem,” Nikki added. “They met like a month and a half ago, but it was chaotic. She actually got to spend some really great time with Artem at Thanksgiving, and keeps raving to my mom about him … ‘He’s the sweetest man I’ve ever met, the biggest gentleman,’ so…”
How did Artem win over the former wrestler’s grandmother? Let’s just say his cooking skills paid off. “Well, I’ve kind of been put to the test because for the Thanksgiving I was supposed to cook these famous yams — that is nana’s recipe,” he said. “And I feel like I did good, so it put me definitely in the good books.”
Artem’s family also gave their stamp of approval when he introduced Nikki to his parents! Though she was nervous to meet them, their first encounter went super well, despite the language barrier. It’s meant to be!
