Just because Nikki Bella and her ex-fiancé, John Cena, called it quits in May 2018, doesn’t mean that there’s any bad blood between the pair. In fact, the professional wrestler-turned-actor, 42, still keeps in contact with Nikki’s family.

“He’s so good to my grandmother, it’s amazing,” the Total Bellas star, 35, gushed to Us Weekly at USA Today’s Wine & Food Experience in Brooklyn on Saturday, September 7. “I love it.”

“My exes, they keep in touch with my family,” Nikki continued. “They talk to my family but not to me.” Of course, Nikki’s family includes her sister, Brie Bella. As it happens, though, the famous twin, 35, didn’t specify as to whether she herself keeps in contact with John.

She merely echoed Nikki’s sentiment to the publication and said that John is “very close” with her grandmother and stays “in touch with a lot of the family.”

Whereas a lot of people would be uncomfortable with an ex maintaining a relationship with their loved ones, Nikki is beyond accepting of the situation.

“I’m, like, a very spiritual person so I think the majority of my boyfriends ended up being my friends because I always felt like even though you’ve had a breakup, you’ve had this strong connection with someone in your life, why not keep them in your life?” she expressed to Us

“Like, I’ve never had an issue with that and vice versa, like I love it because it’s like I spent so long with that person and they gave me so much and I gave them so much so I love how they’re still in contact with my family.”

Considering both Nikki and John have moved on with respective partners — Nikki is dating dancer Artem Chigvintsev and John is romantically linked to Shay Shariatzadeh — it’s clear that their breakup is officially a thing of the past. Good for them!
