Nina Dobrev Gives Boyfriend Shaun White a Hilarious Birthday Shout-Out: ‘Least Favorite Person’
Couples who joke around together, stay together. Nina Dobrev gave her boyfriend, Shaun White, the funniest birthday shout-out on Thursday, September 3.
“To the most untalented, humorless, least athletic, least coordinated, least gifted and least favorite person … Happy Birthday, Shaun White. Hang in there. One day, you will accomplish something,” the former Vampire Diaries actress, 31, captioned a selfie of the pair, along with the hashtag “don’t give up.”
Considering Shaun, 34, literally has three Olympic gold medals under his belt, it’s clear Nina was just poking fun — and her followers totally caught on! “I’m screaming at this caption,” one user commented. “I hear Shuan is bad at snowboarding,” added another.
While Nina and Shuan’s relationship is still fairly new — the two began dating in March — it’s clear the A-list pair has a lot of chemistry. “Nina and Shaun have gotten really close during the quarantine and have been having the best time traveling together,” a source told Us Weekly on August 25 after the duo was spotted packing on the PDA on a beach in Mexico.
“They’re constantly laughing with each other and Shaun is super happy and loving life,” the insider continued. “They’re super compatible and both free-spirited people. They’re very comfortable around each other and both supportive of one another in their fields.”
Prior to her relationship with Shaun, Nina’s most significant Hollywood relationship was with her Vampire Diaries costar Ian Somerhalder. The Degrassi: The Next Generation alum dated Ian, 41, for three years before calling it quits in 2013. The V Wars actor later married Nina’s longtime friend Nikki Reed in 2015. For years, TVD fans assumed there was secretly bad blood between Ian, Nikki and Nina.
However, during a 2019 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, the Bulgaria-born starlet set the record straight after a caller said her relationship with her ex and his wife was “weird.”
“I don’t think that’s weird at all,” Nina replied. “I think that’s great. I think, ‘Why can’t everyone be friends?’ I think that they have a beautiful baby, and they are happy and so am I, and what’s bad about that? I don’t see any problem with that.”
Who knows? Maybe Nina and Shaun will go on a double-date with Ian and Nikki one of these days!
