High School Sweethearts! See NFL Star Patrick Mahomes and His Wife Brittany’s Relationship Timeline

In the Beginning …

The young couple has been together for nearly a decade. Funny enough, Brittany wasn’t aware they were both athletes when they began their romance.

“When we started dating, I had no idea he was even good at sports,” the fitness pro explained. “The quarterback had graduated, and I was talking to [Patrick] like, ‘So, who’s going to be our quarterback?’ And he was like, ‘Well I think I’m going to try out.’ I was like, ‘Wait, you play quarterback?’”

Separate Schools

By senior year, Patrick “played full-time” as the school’s quarterback and began receiving attention for his skills on the field. “He ended up going to Texas Tech, and that’s when it really hit me, ‘Oh s–t, he might go play professional football,” Brittany said about her ​now-husband. “It was surreal to see him living his dream and seeing him grow as an athlete and as a man in general was just amazing.”

However, Patrick wasn’t the only one whose sports career was skyrocketing. Brittany was a rising star on her high school soccer team and even broke the record for the most hat tricks in a season.

After high school, Brittany went on to play soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler. Patrick attended Texas Tech University, which was 440 miles away from his now-wife’s school.

Big Moves

In 2017, the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Patrick. He was the No. 10 pick.

Another Adventure

Meanwhile that same year, Brittany graduated with a kinesiology degree and jetted off to Iceland to play soccer professionally with UMF Afturelding/Fram.

“I realized, you know, that you have to have huge passion if you want to play soccer and that’s what you want your career to be,” Brittany noted. “I found that my passion was in fitness and helping others.” This led her to create her at-home workout program, Brittany Lynne Fitness.

Back Together

Brittany’s team won its league in September 2017. By October 2017, it appears she was living in Kansas City with her man.

Building an Empire

In 2019, Brittany became a certified personal trainer and launched Brittany Lynne Fitness, which provides at-home workouts and apparel. 

They Inspire Each Other

“Patrick works his ass off and is at the facility from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day,” Brittany said in a video for Balance Athletica. “There’s no excuse for me to be sitting on my butt at home doing nothing or not making a difference in this world or not being successful. I feel like we’re a team.”

A Certified Star

Patrick was named MVP after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, making him a household name. 

The Excitement Didn’t Stop There

After winning the Super Bowl in 2020, which happened to be one day after Brittany’s birthday, Patrick popped the question at the stadium with a gorgeous (and massive) diamond ring.

A Whirlwind

One month later, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together, a baby girl. “Mom [and] Dad, taking a small detour to the wedding,” she captioned a photo of her ultrasound via Instagram.

What’s Next?

Brittany and Patrick were about to embark on an exciting new chapter, but they will most likely stay in Kansas City. The athlete said they plan on staying in Missouri for “20 years plus” after purchasing a $1.925 million home in 2019 located in the Mission Hills neighborhood. 
“Setting down roots in Kansas City was huge for us,” the Texas native said. “I think the people are what we love the most about Kansas City. We’re trying to be here for a long, long time.”

Ups and Downs

That’s not to say their life in the spotlight is always easy. Brittany opened up about the difficulties of dealing with online trolls. “Me being a normal girl and living a normal life with this NFL star, most people stereotype an NFL star should not be with this normal girl,” she admitted. “Ever since my platform has grown, you know, the hate has continued to grow, as well. I will say Patrick has been a huge help in this aspect.”
“I’m just finally to a point in my life that I know who I am, I have my family, I have my friends and I am fully confident in the way I was raised,” she later said on Instagram.

Parents-to-Be

Brittany and Patrick seemed to be enjoying every moment of her pregnancy. The former soccer player reflected on their crazy year via Instagram before ringing in 2021.

“Doing it alongside @patrickmahomes made things a little easier, he’s my better half and just the greatest,” she said before naming a few highlights, including getting pregnant, buying a house and Patrick signing a new contract with the Chiefs.

They’re a Team

Brittany cheered on her man as the Chiefs headed to Super Bowl LV in February 2021. “Just so dang proud of you,” she gushed via Instagram.

She’s Here!

The happy couple welcomed their baby girl on February 20, 2021, and announced her birth via Instagram one day later.

No Photos, Please

Days later, Brittany revealed she and Patrick wanted to hold off on sharing their child’s face on social media.

“We will share photos of her when we [feel] the time is right,” she explained via her Instagram Stories at the time. “I know the internet will instantly take the photos of her and share everywhere so just preparing myself for my newborn baby girl to be shared to the world! Right now, we are just soaking in every minute with her.”

9 Beautiful Years

The dynamic duo celebrated their nine-year anniversary with a lavish and romantic dinner date on April 1, 2021 — which the new mama proudly documented on her Instagram Stories.

Hoppy Easter!

The proud parents celebrated their first Easter with their baby girl on April 4, 2021, and commemorated the occasion with a pastel-hued family photo.

Mr. and Mrs.

The couple said “I do” in a beautiful destination wedding in Maui, Hawaii, on March 12, 2022.

Baby No. 2!

The couple revealed on May 29, 2022, that they were expecting baby No. 2. Less than a month later, the pair announced they would be welcoming a boy during a lavish gender reveal party.

Cheering on Daddy!

Brittany brought their daughter, Sterling, to Patrick’s NFL game in September 2022, which was her first time on the field. 

“Ster girl stayed up past her bedtime to surprise her Daddy!!” Brittany’s said via Instagram. 

He’s Here!

The adorable couple welcomed their son, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, on November 28, 2022. Their little bundle of joy came in at 7 pounds, 8 ounces.

Brittany and Patrick celebrated the 2022 holiday season with matching onesies! What’s better than that?

Super Bowl Bound!

Brittany took to social media to celebrate her man’s victory, sending him and the Kansas City Chiefs to Super Bowl LVII. Joining Patrick and Brittany on the field was the couple’s daughter, how cute!

​1-Year Anniversary

In March 2023, Brittany and Patrick celebrated the one-year anniversary of them tying the knot.

“Happy 1st Anniversary🥹🤍,” Brittany began her Instagram post to Patrick. “One of the best weeks of my life, marrying your best friend it’s one of the greatest things you could do! 🙏🏼 Nothing beats doing life with you and these beautiful kiddos of ours! Year 1 was wild but we got many more to go☺️You & Me forever♾️”

Before the November 20, 2023, Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles game, Brittany gave Patrick a good luck kiss to show her support.

Off to the Super Bowl!

After another season of cheering him on from the sidelines, Brittany took to Instagram to celebrate her husband once again making it to the Super Bowl, posting a series of photos of her with Patrick captioned, “PROUD❤️.”

Baby No. 3

Brittany and Patrick announced that they were expecting their third child with a sweet video on Instagram on July 12, 2024. The couple coordinated with Sterling and Bronze in beige outfits as they posed for family photos featuring a set of ultrasound scans. “Round three, here we come,” they captioned the post.

Welcoming Baby No. 3

Brittany and Patrick welcomed baby No. 3, a daughter named Golden, on January 12, 2025.

“Golden Raye Mahomes,” they captioned a joint post shared via Instagram on January 13, 2025. “1/12/25.”

In addition to sharing the baby’s name and birthday, the pair uploaded a black and white photo of Patrick holding Golden’s feet.
