Riley Keough Planning ‘Unforgettable’ 90th Birthday Tribute to Grandfather Elvis Presley at Graceland
Riley Keough is kicking off 2025 by leading a big tribute for grandfather Elvis Presley’s 90th birthday at Graceland. A family source exclusively tells Life & Style that she’s more committed than ever in keeping his legacy alive, as well as that of her mom, Lisa Marie Presley.
“It’s been two years since Riley lost her mom, but it’s all still very raw for her,” the insider says. “The grief is still front and center. But she’s incredibly strong and wants to forge on with this tribute to Elvis because she knows it’s what Lisa Marie would have wanted.”
The source reveals that “a four-day celebration is planned where fans can come to Graceland and celebrate Elvis.”
“There will be special tours happening, as well as performances from different musicians who sang backup for Elvis. Riley knows it will mean a lot to his fans to be able to celebrate him for his birthday, and she wants to give them something unforgettable,” the insider continues.
But Riley’s tribute to her grandfather, who died at 42 years old in August 1977, won’t stop there, the source reveals.
“After the public celebration, Riley is planning to have a gathering of just close friends and family,” the insider notes. “Elvis, Lisa Marie and Ben are all buried in the meditation garden at Graceland, so being there on the property is incredibly emotional for Riley and the rest of the family. She wants Priscilla there as well as her younger sisters and her dad. It’s going to be very intimate and a chance for them to process more of their grief, while also celebrating the incredible life of their patriarch, Elvis.”
Riley’s brother, Benjamin Keough, died by suicide at 27 years old in 2020. Three years later, their mother, Lisa Marie, died at 54 years old of a small bowel obstruction — a complication of bariatric surgery.
Though Riley and grandmother Priscilla Presley became entangled in a legal battle over Lisa Marie’s last will and testament after her death, the pair had seemingly made amends when they walked the red carpet together at the 75th Emmy Awards in January 2024. A source exclusively told Life & Style at the time that the Daisy Jones & The Six actress’ reunion with Priscilla, 79, was “new.”
“It has been months of fighting and hard feelings, and they are just working through all of that. Stepping out together at the Emmys was their way of showing the world a united front,” the insider said, later adding, “Riley had been holding on to so much resentment against her mother’s family, blaming them for Lisa’s difficult life and her many issues. Losing her mother so suddenly threw her into a tailspin. But Riley decided to be the bigger person and to accept and love the family she has been given.”
Later in 2024, Riley continued her healing process by publishing her mother’s posthumous memoir, which the Under the Bridge star also helped finish writing.
“Working on it was very emotional but also very healing,” an insider exclusively told Life & Style of the book, which was published in October 2024. “Riley felt obligated to see the memoir through, knowing it was important to her mother.”
