She’s got jokes! Shortly after Demi Moore posted a Met Gala selfie with Shawn Mendes on Instagram, her daughter Rumer Willis decided it was time to troll her famous mama … and we’re so glad she did. “My tablemate. Love this kid, such an artist and sweet soul!” the 56-year-old actress captioned the snapshot on Tuesday, May 7. 

Rumer’s response was short, but still pure perfection. “My new stepdad,” the 30-year-old quipped. Y’all … we are dying. ICYMI: Demi isn’t exactly a stranger to being interested in (much) younger men. Case in point, Ashton Kutcher was 15 years her junior when they got married in 2005.  

Of course, in no way do we think anything romantic is going on between Demi and the 20-year-old “Stitches” singer, which is what makes Rumer’s joke all the more hilarious. As it happens, plenty of other people thought the same. “OMG, Rumer. You just made my day,” one user commented. “Oh wow! This is too good,” added another.

“Somehow I expected this comment … just not from you,” someone wrote, along with several laughing emojis. Unfortunately, though, a handful of trolls decided to use Demi’s innocent post as an excuse to be major haters. “He’s young enough to be your grandchild. Back off,” one commented. “She’s always going for the young ones. That’s a 30-year age difference right there!” echoed another.

Despite both being single, we sincerely doubt that Shawn and Demi are item. You can all calm down. However, if they were, what’s the big deal? Older men date younger women all the time — ahem, Scott Disick and Sofia Richie, as well as every model Leonardo DiCaprio has even been with. *Drops mic and walks off stage to steady applause.*
