According to a new report, Scott Disick was reportedly hospitalized for a possible 5150 psychiatric hold on Aug. 18 after the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a call at his Hidden Hills home. The LAFD confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that they arrived at the reality star’s residence at 5:03 p.m., and that the man they treated (who remained unidentified in their statement) was non-violent.

So what exactly is a 5150 psychiatric hold? “[The patient is] basically there involuntarily,” psychotherapist Dr. Robi Ludwig explained to ET in 2015. “It’s usually a person who is in a sicker state that ends up in a hospital involuntarily because other people have decided that they can’t make decisions on their own behalf and they usually are considered a danger to themselves or others at least for a period of time.”

News of Scott’s hospitalization comes more than two years after he checked into the Rythmia Life Advancement Center, a luxury rehab facility in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. During that stint, the father-of-three said in a statement, “I realize my issues are bigger than me and I’m ready to truly remedy this struggle I continue to battle. While I have been unconvinced in the past of treatment and therapy methods, Rythmia’s rehab approach puts my worries at ease. The fact that there is a money back guarantee that has never been called upon gives me even more confidence.”

He raised eyebrows when he left after a week. “The funny thing is, a lot of people were under the impression that I was going to this rehab facility in Costa Rica for a month, when the truth was, I was going for a week for one treatment that they have there,” he said at the time. “I’m not done. I plan to go back to this place.” We hope this hospital stay served as a wake-up call.
