Happy National Selfie Day! Every June 21 we celebrate the underappreciated holiday —which also falls on the first day of summer BTW —by running outside and finding amazing lighting for that perfect selfie. Thanks to social media (and the Kardashians), selfies are the new norm, but don't get it twisted, it's a lot harder than it looks.
That is why we reached out to our favorite Instagrammers for their tips and tricks guaranteed to get your beautiful face the most likes on any social media platform. So, before we delve into their tried and true advice, let's remember what Kim Kardashian, the official queen of selfies, has said about perfecting the ~skill~.
Along with good lighting, Kim encourages her fans to embrace the duck face pose. "I love it because it gives you cheekbones — though it does make people mad," she said before sharing another trick. "A lot has to do with how your crop it. If you don't like something on your body, you just crop it," she told Jimmy Kimmel. And unsurprisingly, she has a little help from filters.
According to Us Weekly, her go-to photo-editing app is Perfect365. "Kim and all the Kardashians use the app Perfect365 to touch up their photos before they post them on social media," a source said. "The Kardashians have gotten all of their friends into it." Oh, and don't forget to invest in a digital camera because portrait mode is so 2018. "This is how it makes all of [my] pictures so flawless," Kim added.
