Shay Mitchell Is Having a Girl and She Found Out in *Literally* the Most Insane Way
*Drumroll, please!* Pregnant Shay Mitchell dished that she’s having a baby girl in the most insane way. She and her boyfriend, Matte Babel, watched two Power Rangers duke it out and it was the most unique gender reveal of all time. The adorable couple was absolutely shocked when they found out they were having a daughter.
“I’m not ready for this,” Matte, 38, said in the video after confessing that he felt certain they were having a son. “I thought it was a boy for the longest time,” Shay, 32, agreed. “Obviously, I’m super happy. It’s just like … it’s crazy.”
The couple announced they were expecting a child on June 28 after the Pretty Little Liars actress put her growing bump on full display on social media. “When you’re in the public eye, there’s some things you want to keep a secret until you feel ready … this, for me, has been the hardest. This is going to be really fun and awesome when I’m not trying to hide it anymore,” the You star explained in a YouTube video announcing her pregnancy.
She kept it under wraps as long as possible. “I didn’t want to come out on social media so early on,” the Canadian beauty added. “I think pregnancy is awesome for the most part.”
Back in 2018, Shay opened up to fans on social media about experiencing a devastating miscarriage. “Although it was an amazing year, it didn’t come without some hardships,” she wrote on her Instagram Story at the time. The actress also shared a picture of her sonogram with a broken heart emoji. “We all have to deal with various struggles and challenges in life. And sometimes it’s easier to only showcase the good times on social media, which is what leads many people to criticize it for its lack of authenticity.”
It looks like Shay and Matte are ready for this next chapter of their lives. We can’t wait to meet their new bundle of joy!
