Best friends always attend each other’s weddings no matter what, right? Well, there seems to be an exception if you’re an international pop star touring on the other side of the world, so don’t worry too much that Taylor Swift didn’t attend Karlie Kloss’ wedding. Here’s an update on the two famous friends.

On Thursday, Oct. 18, Karlie tied the knot with longtime beau Josh Kushner in upstate New York. According to supermodel’s rep who spoke to PEOPLE, the ceremony was intimate, with a total of 80 guests. Among the guests, Taylor was not present, but she had a good reason. The “Look What You Made Me Do” singer is currently busy touring in Australia — she posted a selfie on her Instagram story describing her excitement to perform for her fans in Perth.

Traveling to New York would have been unrealistic because that meant Taylor would had to have canceled a concert if she wanted to attend the wedding — Perth is 12 hours ahead of New York and it’s a 25-hour flight, so it wouldn’t have worked out. By the time Karlie was saying her vows yesterday afternoon, Taylor was probably sleeping in preparation for concert day.

Though Taylor’s reason for not attending is understandable, there’s still plenty of speculation on where their friendship stands. However, Karlie set the record straight in a recent video interview with Vogue’s 73 Questions earlier this month. Karlie was asked if she and Taylor are cool, which she replied by confirming, they’re still “really good friends.”

And we believe it because just two months ago Karlie attended one of Taylor’s concerts. She posted a selfie with the singer in late August, captioning it, “No one puts a show like @taylorswift. #ReputationTour Nashville was out of this world. I am SO proud of you.” We stan two queens who stan each other!

While it may still be devastating to not have one of your closest friends be a part of one of the most important days of your life, there’s still hope. Apparently the newlyweds plan on hosting a larger party for the rest of their family and loved ones in the springtime. Hopefully we’ll see Taylor attending then!
