Taylor Swift Seemingly Blurs Photo of Joe Alwyn on Phone in ‘Bejeweled’ BTS Video After Fan Frenzy

Taylor Swift’s eagle-eyed fans noticed a slight change that she seemingly made to a behind-the-scenes clip from her “Bejeweled” music video. The footage – which was filmed in 2022 – originally showed an apparent photo of the singer with ex Joe Alwyn as her phone background, but the image was seemingly blurred out after it went viral online.

On December 13 – Taylor’s 35th birthday – several BTS videos from her recent music videos were shared on her official YouTube page. In one of the clips from the “Bejeweled” video, which Taylor, 35, directed, the pop star was holding her phone in her hand and the screen was visible. The background appeared to be a picture of Taylor with then-boyfriend Joe, 33, and fans began circulating it on social media.

Days later, the video was updated with the phone background blurred out. At this point, social media became flooded with fans slamming others for pointing out the original image, which was featured in such a subtle and unintentional way in the BTS clip. “I honestly don’t blame Taylor at all for rarely sharing anything about her personal life on social media anymore. The fact that her lockscreen in the Bejeweled bts video had to be blurred out because her own fans can’t be normal, it’s actually so embarrassing,” one person wrote on X.

Another said, “It makes me sad on taylor’s behalf that they had to go back and blur her personal lockscreen in that video because people couldn’t be normal about it and respectful of taylor, the person,” and someone else wrote, “Coming back to Taylor having to blur out *that* picture from the bejeweled BTS video… because some of you cannot be normal!!! she was with that man for almost a decade, her bf at the time was her lockscreen, idk why that’s shocking or needs to be pointed out.”

Who Is Your Favorite Collaborator on Taylor Swift’s TTPD?

Taylor and Joe started dating in 2016 and were still together when she released “Bejeweled” in October 2022. However, it’s been speculated that they started having issues in their relationship long before that, as Taylor penned the devastating song “You’re Losing Me” in December 2021. Her collaborator Jack Antonoff confirmed the recording date in November 2023.

The track features lyrics like, “Do I throw out everything we built or keep it?” and, “I wouldn’t marry me either, a pathological people pleaser,” and, “I gave you all my best mes, my endless empathies, and all I did was bleed.”

While the “Cruel Summer” songstress does not reveal who her songs are about, the lyrics match up with similar themes she explored on her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which was released more than a year after her 2023 split from Joe. On songs like “Fresh Out the Slammer,” “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys,” and “Guilty as Sin?,” Taylor sings about feeling caged and under-appreciated in her past romance.

After ending things with Joe, Taylor briefly moved on with Matty Healy before she started dating Travis Kelce during summer 2023. She and the NFL star, 35, have been going strong ever since.
