Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez Will Likely Be in Each Other’s Wedding Party: Their Friendship Is ‘Easy’
It was a breathtaking accomplishment. In September, Bloomberg reported that Selena Gomez had officially become a billionaire, thanks to her acting gigs, music and cosmetics company — Rare Beauty. Making the moment even sweeter? The news came just 11 months after her friend of 15-plus years, Taylor Swift, joined the 10-digit net worth club, as a result of her own record-breaking Eras Tour.
“Taylor reached out privately to congratulate Selena when she hit the financial milestone,” an insider exclusively tells Life & Style. “Taylor and Selena are still besties, and they have more in common today than ever before!”
How Does Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez’s Wealth Affect Their Friendship?
Neither is in the habit of flaunting her wealth, and both are extremely charitable. While Taylor, 35, has donated the equivalent of hundreds of thousands of meals to food banks in cities where she’s performed, Selena, 32, supports mental health initiatives with her Rare Impact Fund. “They each realize how lucky they are to be in this financial position, first of all, but also to have a friend in the same boat who they can ask for advice,” says the insider. “It’s very unreal.”
But Taylor and Selena — who are worth an estimated $1.5B and $1.3B, respectively — are just as likely to talk about money matters as they are to “compare notes” on Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules. “When they get together, there’s no pretense, they’re simply two normal women who enjoy gossip, shopping, reality TV shows and romantic comedies,” spills the insider, pointing out that Selena even refers to close confidante Taylor as “a big sister.”
“They’re not competitive with each other, and they’ve been very open and honest throughout the years. Theirs is an easy friendship to maintain.”
The successful pals first met in 2008 through the Jonas Brothers: Taylor was dating Joe, 35, while Selena was seeing Nick, 32. Since then, the “Anti-Hero” singer and the Only Murders in the Building actress have supported each other through countless heartbreaks.
For the first time in a long time, however, both celebs are happily in committed romantic relationships — Taylor with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, 35, and Selena with music producer Benny Blanco, 36. In fact, Selena and Benny excitedly announced their engagement on December 11, to which Taylor replied, “Yes, I will be the flower girl.”
“Jokes aside, it’s safe to say that their fans could expect to see each of them in the other’s wedding party,” dishes the insider. “They even talk about their future children playing together. Taylor and Selena will be in each other’s lives forever.”
