‘The Golden Bachelorette’ Finale Recap: Who Did Joan Vassos Choose? Full Episode Breakdown
The Golden Bachelorette has had an incredible season, with leading lady Joan Vassos sharing her heartbreaking story and opening her heart to finding love again. Guy Gansert and Chock Chapple were the final two guys left, and they got to meet Joan’s family in the finale episode. Who did Joan choose at the final rose ceremony? And did she get engaged? Chock Met Joan’s Family
The episode started off with an emotional Joan, who was still reeling from Pascal’s dramatic exit in the previous episode. She said she felt “unlovable.” Chock was first to meet Joan’s family. Joan broke down in tears while she talked to her kids about her connection with Chock.
“I’m not here to replace your dad … I’m just here to have a great life with your mom,” Chock told Joan’s son during the visit.
Joan’s son told her he was so proud of her for being courageous and taking risks in such a graceful way. He also said that he liked Chock a lot.
He praised his mom for having “incredible strength” and for always lifting her family up. He said it was evident that his mom was so happy. Later on in the episode, Joan and Chock met for some one-on-one time. He presented Joan with a lock and key and told her he wanted to find a place in New York City with her. Chock professed his love for Joan but she did not say it back to him.
“Joan did not tell me she loved me back,” Chock said in a confessional. “That’s always going to be a concern when you’re the first one to say the love word.”
Joan Broke Up With Guy
He hoped that if he proposed, Joan would say she loved him back.
Joan woke up the next day thinking about her connection with Chock. She realized that he heart was with Chock and decided to break up with Guy before he met her family.
“My biggest hope and my biggest fear were kind of that I would have strong feelings for at least one person and the scary part was that I would have to send somebody home so I’m here to tell you my heart belongs to somebody else,” she told Guy. “I care about you so so so so much and I know we talked about being seen, and I want you to know that I saw you at every rose ceremony. I saw you at every date. Just my heart belongs to somebody else now and instead of putting you through meeting my family and showing up on the last day, I wanted to spare you all of that because I care so much about you. I’m so sorry, I didn’t want to hurt you. I swear I didn’t.”
Guy broke down in tears after Joan broke up with him. He told her that he planned on proposing to her and he fell for her. “I laid it all out. I was ready,” he said.
Joan said that she felt “really guilty” because she didn’t wanna hurt people.
“Losing Joan makes me feel devastated, sick to my stomach, heartbroken. I thought it was Joan. I really thought it was going to happen,” Guy said.
Chock Proposed to Joan
After sending Guy home, Chock was the final man left standing.
“We’ve had a magical journey,” Chock told Joan. “It’s just been absolutely incredible. You’re the most giving, selfless woman I’ve ever met in my life.”
Chock said that he would proceed in their relationship by keeping Joan’s late husband in mind. “I will honor him by loving you every day … Joan you will never be invisible to me,” Chock said.
“I look into those gorgeous eyes and I still can’t believe this is happening … Joan, I love you and I want you to be in my life,” he said.
“About a year and a half ago, I decided that I wanted love back in my life,” Joan told him. She said from their first date in Disneyland, she pictured a life with him.
“I waited til this moment in this amazing location to tell you that I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to wake up next to you in the morning and I want to kiss you before I go to bed at night,” she said.
He got down on one knee and popped the question. She happily accepted. Her engagement ring is stunning!
