You go, mama! Tia Mowry shared an inspirational message about motherhood and weight loss with her fans. “I’ve lost 68 pounds since giving birth to my daughter,” the former Sister, Sister actress, 42, began her Instagram post on Tuesday, August 25, referring to her now-2-year-old, Cairo Tiahna.
“I’m very proud that I did it my way and in my time. I didn’t feel rushed to snap back. I enjoyed breast-feeding and spending quality time with Cario and my son, Cree,” Tia continued. “To all the women who are feeling pressured after birth. Do YOU! Do what makes YOU proud and do it in YOUR time. Not anyone else’s.”
This is hardly the first time the Germany-born starlet has opened up about her postpartum health and fitness journey. In 2017, Tia released her cookbook, Whole New You: How Real Food Transforms Your Life, for a Healthier, More Gorgeous You, in which she shares helpful insights on clean eating.
Additionally, the Game alum checked in with her followers nearly every step of the way after welcoming her baby girl in May 2018. “Many women feel the need to snap back right away after they deliver. That was never the goal for me,” Tia explained in October 2019, 17 months after giving birth to Cairo, whom she shares with husband Cory Hardrict. “I was called fat during my pregnancy and I was called fat after my pregnancy. Why do we do this to each other? Instead of [loving] one another? I will never understand that.”
Tia went on to detail why she chose to document her progress and be “vulnerable” for other women. “It’s OK to go at your own pace. It’s OK to love yourself no matter where you are in your journey. Do not fold social pressures,” she wrote. “After hard work with just diet and exercise, today I’m closer to my goal. Do I have loose skin and stretch marks? YES. Guess what? I LOVE all of me and I want you to love all of you, too.”
Wise words from a wise woman! We look forward to more of Tia’s powerful posts.
