Travis and Jason Kelce Joke About Taylor Swift’s Pal Blake Lively in ‘Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’

Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce have some opinions about Taylor Swift’s bestie Blake Lively’s major film debut in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

The brothers reviewed the 2005 coming-of-age drama-comedy on their “New Heights” podcast spinoff, “New Heights Film Club,” on Wednesday, October 16. Travis, 35, and Jason, 36, agreed that Blake, 37, “killed it” in her role as soccer-star teen Bridget Vreeland.

“She did absolutely wonderful as Bridget,” the retired Philadelphia Eagles center said, while his younger brother added, “Might have been a little biased, but I thought Bridget’s story was the most relatable and most fun.”

The NFL stars’ only gripe was about the way Blake ran in the movie.

“A lot of the movie is just Bridget running,” Jason continued. “I gotta admit, not the best run. Blake, I love you, it does not strike me as a star athlete run.”

Travis admitted, “But it was impressive. She has good endurance, though, because running like that and to be talking? I would be f–king gassed and would be way worse at trying to spit my lines out.”

“I agree, very impressive,” Jason said. “She runs so far she ends up in a soccer camp in Mexico.”

Overall, the brothers were happy with the movie, which follows a group of best friends who share a pair of jeans that fit all of them perfectly, despite having different body types, over a summer apart from each other. In addition to Blake, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants stars Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn.

“Not a bad film,” Jason shared. “It’s hard to relate, but I think for a movie in this age range, the surprising level of acting [was] well done. Blake Lively; America Ferrera killed it as Carmen. Alexis Bledel and Amber Tamblyn. So yeah, I thought it was an interesting movie, a coming-of-age story that kept my attention enough.”

Though Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce, explained to him that the pants symbolized the bond among the friends, he admitted that he “didn’t feel like they did a damn thing.”

“I wanted the pants to be more of a major part, I wanted them to actually have magic,” the former footballer concluded.

Jason and Travis announced their film club earlier this month. The pair reacted to film suggestions on the October 2 episode of “New Heights,” with the elder Kelce brother admitting that he was initially against watching Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

“I was out after it said ‘sisterhood,’ and got even more out when it said ‘of the traveling pants,’” Jason joked. “There’s multiple things I’m not interested in about this movie in just the title alone.”

Some of the other suggestions they received included romantic comedies like Love Actually, My Best Friend’s Wedding, The Parent Trap and Bridget Jones’s Diary. Jason blamed fans of Travis’ girlfriend for the influx of movie recommendations in this genre.

“There’s just a lot of chick flicks,” he stated. “We’ve got a lot of Swifties trying to make us watch bad movies.”

Taylor, 34, has been dating the Kansas City Chiefs tight end since July 2023. Many of her fans have extended their support to Travis and Jason’s projects, including their podcast and Travis’ TV gigs like Grotesquerie and Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? While Jason joked that her fans flooded their comments with chick flick suggestions, he and Travis have gushed about Swifties in the past.

“We would be remiss if we didn’t thank all of the 92 percenters out there, a.k.a. Swifties who voted for us to win this award,” Jason said after “New Heights” won Podcast of the Year at the 2024 iHeartPodcast Awards in March.

Travis added, “Thank you guys for everything. We truly have the best fan base in the entire world. Thank you for voting every single day of every single month and every hour of that day. We love you guys, thanks again. The Swifties voted.”
