Another day, another upsetting celebrity breakup! Tyra Banks and star photographer Erik Asla have decided to call it quits after five years together, Page Six reports. The duo shares a precious one-year-old son named York, who was born via surrogate in January 2016. Watch the video below for more details on their split:
Luckily, it sounds like these two are determined to remain amicable. “It came drama-free,” a source explained. The breakup may come as a surprise to fans who felt Tyra had finally found “The One.” In 2015, she called Erik her “best friend,” saying, “we balance each other… He’s creative. I’m creative. We just have fun.” When she decided to become a mom for the first time at 42 years old, her followers on social media knew Erik must be someone special. Unfortunately, it seems like they just couldn’t make it work.
In July, Tyra revealed that having a baby really stretched her time thin and taught her to focus. “Now that I have my son. I think that’s Mother Nature’s way of saying this life you created takes all of your brain power,” she told People magazine. Perhaps having to divide her attention between work and her son didn’t leave much room for Erik.
But, despite the separation, Tyra seems to be doing better than ever. She’s super hands-on with baby York, and she killed it as the new host of America’s Got Talent. Plus, she’ll soon be returning to her iconic show, America’s Next Top Model, after a one-season hiatus. Hopefully, this will only make her stronger!
