What Is ‘Christmas in the Spotlight’? Lifetime Movie Inspired By Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s love story has the makings of a romantic comedy, and Lifetime is capitalizing off their romance in the new movie Christmas in the Spotlight. What is Christmas in the Spotlight about and when will it air?

What Is ‘Christmas in the Spotlight’ About?

The Lifetime holiday film follows popular musician Bowyn (played by Jessica Lord), who sparks a connection with professional football player Drew (played by Laith Wallschleger).

“Despite always singing about love and relationships, [Bowyn] hasn’t found Mr. Right yet. Her fame and busy recording schedule make it nearly impossible to date, but when she meets Drew, a pro football player, backstage at her show, there’s an undeniable spark between the two of them. When Drew publicly declares he has a crush on Bowyn, they decide to give dating a shot, much to the excitement of her manager Mira,” according to the movie’s synopsis on the network’s website. “With each passing day they spend together, their feelings grow stronger … but can it last in the limelight, especially when they both have such hectic schedules? With people questioning if their feelings for each other are real or just for show, the pressure mounts from the press, paparazzi, their fans and even their family.”

Who Is Your Favorite Collaborator on Taylor Swift’s TTPD?

The movie ties into Christmas because it takes place during the holiday season. “The pair has until the end of the holiday season to decide if they want to stay together, or let it go down in flames,” the synopsis concluded.

When Does ‘Christmas in the Spotlight’ Premiere?

Christmas in the Spotlight will premiere on Lifetime November 23, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET. It will then be available to stream the following day.

Jessica Lord Hopes Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Enjoy ‘Christmas in the Spotlight’

Before the movie premiered, Jessica exclusively spoke to Life & Style about her hopes that Taylor and Travis will like the movie.

“I hope they love it. It really is a feel good … holiday movie,” she told Life & Style in October 2024. “I just hope that they are [as] excited about it as I am and that they love it. Hopefully everybody else will.”

Jessica went on to tease that “people might be surprised by the performance aspect of this film,” and she shared that it’s a “different type of performance than a usual Lifetime holiday movie.”

“There’s a lot of dancing, singing, there’s a bit of comedy in there and I think the love story, just really is light and nice,” Jessica said. “I think people are really going to enjoy the performance of it all for sure. The football, the pop star, just that combination itself is entertaining.”

While the film took inspiration from Taylor and Travis’ love story, Jessica previously insisted that she is not playing the “Cruel Summer” singer in the movie. “We’re not trying to be them, we could never be them,” she told People about the A-list couple. “They’re these incredible, inspiring stars [and] I think so many people look up to them and their love for each other.”
