Jessica Lord Hopes Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce ‘Love’ and Are ‘Excited’ About Movie They Inspired
Christmas in the Spotlight star Jessica Lord says she hopes Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce “love” the Lifetime movie inspired by their love story during an exclusive interview with Life & Style.
“I hope they love it. It really is a feel good … holiday movie,” Jessica, 26, told Life & Style while attending the Variety’s 2024 Power of Women: Los Angeles Event Presented by Lifetime on Thursday, October 24. “I just hope that they are [as] excited about it as I am and that they love it. Hopefully everybody else will.”
Jessica added that she thinks “people might be surprised by the performance aspect of this film,” explaining that it’s a “different type of performance than a usual Lifetime holiday movie.”
“There’s a lot of dancing, singing, there’s a bit of comedy in there and I think the love story, just really is light and nice,” she said. “I think people are really going to enjoy the performance of it all for sure. The football, the pop star, just that combination itself is entertaining.”
The network announced in September that the movie will follow a pop star named Bowyn, played by Jessica, who hasn’t met her perfect match. However, her luck seems to change when she meets a professional football player, played by Laith Wallschleger, backstage at one of her concerts.
Drew publicly declares his interest in Bowyn and they start dating. Despite developing real feelings for each other, the pressure ignites amid questions of “if their feelings for each other are real or just for show.” According to the movie description, “the pressure mounts from the press, paparazzi, their fans and even their family.”
“The pair has until the end of the holiday season to decide if they want to stay together, or let it go down in flames,” the logline continued, explaining how the story ties into Christmas.
The movie clearly parallels Taylor, 34, and Travis’ love story, which began in July 2023 when he publicly revealed he tried and failed to give her his phone number on a friendship bracelet while attending her Eras tour. After he made the public declaration, Taylor and Travis, 35, began dating that summer and they have been going strong ever since.
Christmas in the Spotlight, which will air on Lifetime on November 23, isn’t the only holiday movie inspired by the A-listers.
Hallmark also announced the release of Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story on November 30. The film follows Alana Higman, played by Hunter King, who is a frontrunner to win the Kansas City Chiefs’ “Fan of the Year” contest. Meanwhile, Director of Fan Engagement Derrick, played by Tyler Hynes, “is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists,” according to the network’s website. “As the pair spends time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between them but when her grandfather’s vintage Chiefs good-luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, destiny and even questions her future with Derrick – unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.”

White the Hallmark film isn’t quite as on the nose as Lifetime’s, Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story will also feature a cameo from Travis’ mom, Donna Kelce.
