Who Is Lisa?
Lisa – who was born with the name Pranpriya Manobal – is from Buriram Province, Thailand. However, she legally changed her name to Lalisa, which means “the one being praised.”
She first got her start in the arts while attending dance classes as a child. After competing in several dance competitions, Lisa joined the eleven-member dance crew We Zaa Cool and they competed and won the Special Team Award at the LG Entertainment Million Dream Sanan competition in 2009.
In addition to dancing, she had a passion for singing at a young age and competed in the singing competition Top 3 Good Morals of Thailand in early 2009. Her talent was clear and she was the competition’s runner-up.
Lisa Is a Successful Singer and Rapper
Lisa auditioned for the South Korean record label YG Entertainment in Thailand in 2010 when she was just 13. She moved to South Korea the following year to begin her formal training as a trainee.
She joined Blackpink in August 2016 alongside Jisoo, Jennie and Rosé. The group released their debut single album, The Album, in 2020, followed by Born Pink in 2022.
Not only has Lisa found success as a member of Blackpink, but she is also a successful solo artist. The musician released her debut solo album, Alter Ego, in February 2025.
She showed off her singing abilities during the Oscars in March 2025, where she channeled her inner Bond girl during a James Bond tribute performance alongside Doja Cat and Raye.
Lisa Is an Actress
While Lisa had appeared on television shows as herself including Charm TV, Real Man 300 and Youth With You, she made her acting debut as Thidapon Sornsin (Mook) in season 3 of The White Lotus. The role was particularly special for her, as the season takes place in Thailand.
“I feel so honored to be part of The White Lotus, and also this season is based in Thailand – in my home country,” she told Forbes about being cast on the HBO show. “So, I’m just so – I don’t know what to say. Grateful – so proud to be Thai.”
Lisa also spoke to Variety about her acting debut, admitting she was “nervous” during her first day on set of The White Lotus. “I was sweating. I was like, ‘I can’t remember my lines.’ I’m blanked,” she told the outlet in February 2025.
Lisa Is a Model
Not only is Lisa an actress, rapper, singer and dancer, but she has also worked professionally as a model. Over the years, she’s modeled for companies including the South Korean cosmetics brand Moonshot, Thai mobile phone operator AIS Thailand, Adidas, MAC Cosmetics and more.
