Who Is Sofronio Vasquez? Meet ‘The Voice’ Season 26 Winner From Team Michael Buble
Sofronio Vasquez has impressed The Voice judges and viewers from the moment he auditioned. The talented singer was a four-chair turn and was named the season 26 winner during the December 10, 2024, finale, giving rookie coach Michael Bublé his first victory.
Who Is Sofronio Vasquez?
Sofronio is a singer who competed on season 26 of The Voice and won. He previously competed on a similar competition singing show in the Philippines called Tawag ng Tanghalan in 2019, where he finished in third place.
“Sofronio Vasquez is known for his powerful voice and velvety-rich tone,” his website says. “He’s a versatile and dynamic singer who can sing a vast repertoire of songs from pop to RnB to rock to standard to jazz. He even raps!”
After being declared the winner of The Voice, Sofronio was practically speechless. He told Access Hollywood he “didn’t have words” for how he was feeling and admitted that he was going to be purchasing a TV with his $100,000 prize money.
In addition to releasing covers of songs online, Sofronio has also shared his own original music. Some of his performances have gone viral, including a rendition of “That’s What Friends Are For,” which received over nine million views on Facebook, and a cover of “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You,” which has over one million views on TikTok.
Where Is Sofronio Vasquez From?
Sofronio is from the Philippines. He “grew up with virtually nothing, including no bed or indoor plumbing,” according to his NBC bio. During those difficult years, he found happiness through music, which he said “was always there to bring his family joy.” He became the first person from the Philippines to ever win The Voice when he took home his season 26 victory.

Although Sofronio spent most of his life in the Philippines, he moved to the United States in 2022 after his father passed away and he decided to pursue music. Sofronio said his father’s death gave him “a new sense of motivation” to showcase his musical talents.
In America, Sofronio lives in Upstate New York. “When I got the chance to see Utica as a community, I [felt] the warmth,” he told WKTV. “And I also had known Utica welcomes refugees, immigrants, very well. And that’s one thing I love.”
What Is Sofronio Vasquez’s Job?
Before deciding to pursue music, Sofronio studying to become a dentist. He made the decision to immigrate to the United States in the middle of studying for his dental boards in the Philippines.
Sofronio has worked as a dental assistant for a doctor in Utica since January 2024, according to his LinkedIn. He received his MD in dentistry from Misamis University in 2015 and is doing his clinical internship/externship at Mohawk Valley Health System.
Sofronio Vasquez’s Journey on ‘The Voice’
All four coaches – Michael, Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg and Reba McEntire – turned their chairs for Sofronio’s blind audition performance of “I’m Goin’ Down.” He picked Michael as his coach after years of idolizing the artist.
“Singing in front of him is kind of intimidating, but in a good way,” he admitted. “I think it went well, and he resonated [with] my music and I resonated [with] his. We feel connected.”
He then performed “The Power of Love” with Aliyah Khaylyn for the battle rounds and was chosen as the winner by Michael. In the three-way knockout, Sofronio was against Kiara Vega and Jeremy Beloate, and Michael once again picked him as the victor. He then moved through the playoffs thanks to Michael and semifinals thanks to America’s votes.
