Lady Gaga and Christian Carino Split Because ‘She Couldn’t Risk Jeopardizing Her Career’
Don’t mess with greatness! Lady Gaga and Christian Carino called off their engagement in February after almost two years together. Fans were a bit taken aback by the sudden news because the couple seemed to be chugging along just fine. A source recently revealed that the sudden breakup had a lot to do with her career and life goals.
“She was devastated at first,” an insider admitted to Us Weekly on April 18 about the 33-year-old’s split from the talent agent, 50. The source also noted that his personality “infringed on her creative process.” Gaga’s creativity is her entire livelihood so it’s not surprising that this would cause an issue between the two.
The source continued, “[She] couldn’t risk jeopardizing her career in that way, over a man, and that’s not something she would stand for.” In addition to a guy stepping on what she does best, a separate insider previously acknowledged that the end of their ~bad romance~ wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. “Chris didn’t treat Gaga very well toward the end of their relationship,” the insider divulged.
This isn’t the first time that work and love haven’t mixed well for the pop star. She confessed during the 2017 hit Netflix documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two, “It’s a sad day when I’m doing the Super Bowl and I’m so excited to do it, but I can’t help but realize that when I sold 10 million records, I lost Matt [Williams]. I sold 30 million, I lose Luc [Carl]. I get the movie [A Star Is Born], I lose Taylor [Kinney].” She added, “It’s like a turnover.”
Gaga’s rep officially announced her split from Christian on February 19. Speculation started after Mother Monster attended the Grammy Awards on February 10 without her engagement ring or fiancé.
The “Shallow” songstress previously told Page Six about being in a committed relationship, “The best part about being in love with someone is having them there to catch you if you fall.” We hope Gaga can find the right guy soon!
