Rihanna and Ex-Boyfriend Hassan Jameel ‘Tried to Make It Work’ Ahead of Split: ‘She Really Loved Him’
“A” for effort? Rihanna and Hassan Jameel’s decision to end their nearly three-year relationship didn’t come easily. “After trying to make it work, they decided to go their separate ways,” a source exclusively tells Life & Style. “She really loved him.”
Like many A-list couples before them, Rihanna’s fame eventually became the catalyst for their breakup. “She thought their differences made them stronger,” notes the insider. “But ultimately, for Hassan, dating an international pop star wasn’t going to work.”
Even if things didn’t pan out romantically for the pair, there’s no bad blood between them. “They said they’ll stay friends,” the source assures.
The Fenty Beauty founder has been keeping herself quite busy since her split, namely by hanging out with her rumored former flame A$AP Rocky. On Friday, January 17, RiRi and the “Live Fast” rapper, 31, were spotted getting cozy at the Barclays Center in NYC.
In two photos posted on a Twitter fan account, RiRi and A$AP posed in front of a graffiti mural at A$AP Mob’s annual YAMS Day concert. Both hip hop powerhouses were all smiles while keeping each other company. However, a separate source told In Touch that the entertainers are just “good friends.”
“I don’t think it’s romantic, not yet anyway. I honestly think they’re better off as friends, even though they make a beautiful couple,” the insider revealed. “Everyone does actually, [though] no one is opposed to them getting together.”
It wasn’t too long ago that fans were saying the same thing about A$AP and Kendall Jenner. The attractive duo reignited dating rumors after appearing together in Calvin Klein’s 50th-anniversary video.
“A$AP and Kendall would make the HOTTEST couple,” one shipper tweeted at the time, while a second echoed, “Waiting for the day that Kendall will date A$AP.”
Whether you’re Team Kendall or Team Rihanna, it’s safe to say these two independent ladies will be A-OK with or without A$AP Rocky as a boyfriend!
