Zendaya and Tom Holland Are Engaged After He Proposed Over the Holidays: Report
Zendaya and Tom Holland are engaged after he popped the question over the holidays, according to several reports.
TMZ was first to break the news, with a source telling the outlet on Monday, January 6, that they got engaged sometime between Christmas and New Year’s. Meanwhile, Tom, 28, reportedly asked Zendaya, 28, for her hand in marriage while spending time at one of her family homes in the United States.
The insider claimed that Tom did not make a big fuss over the proposal, and instead chose to ask in a simple yet romantic and intimate way. Despite being at her family home, Tom and Zendaya were reportedly alone for the special moment.
An additional family source told People that “everyone close to them knew an engagement was happening” and Tom had been planning to propose for “a while.”
While the couple is believed to be head over heels regarding the engagement, the insider said that they’re in no rush to wed soon. “They will just enjoy things for now and won’t rush a wedding,” the insider said. “They are both busy with work projects.”
The news of their engagement comes just hours after Zendaya sparked rumors Tom has popped the question by sporting a massive diamond ring at the Golden Globes on Sunday, January 5. The accessory appeared to be a 5.02ct East-West Cushion Diamond Button Back Ring from jewelry brand Jessica McCormack, according to a report by gossip account Duexmoi.
Shortly after fans spotted the ring, many people rushed to social media to speculate that the couple was engaged. “Streets are saying zendaya is engaged and suddenly life is worth living,” one person wrote via X, and another social media user reacted to a video of Zendaya flaunting the ring by writing, “ARE ZENDAYA AND TOM HOLLAND ENGAGED!?!? SHE IS SHOWING OFF A RING!!!”
Tom and Zendaya grew close in 2016 when they worked together on the movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. They went on to be romantically linked for years, and the duo seemingly confirmed their romance was real when they were spotted kissing in his car in July 2021.
The engagement news comes four months after an insider shared a rare update about Tom and Zendaya’s relationship, including their wedding plans, while exclusively speaking to Life & Style in September 2024.
“Tom and Zendaya are in a very positive place and they’ve been exclusive now for more than five years,” the insider said at the time. “They are part of each other’s families at this point and marriage has been part of the conversation for a while.”
After noting that they had spoken about wedding plans for the future, the source said they had to “figure out is what country to have the wedding – the US, England or some kind of neutral territory.”
“And as with everything they do as a couple, they are very focused on keeping things classy, inclusive and fashion-forward,” the insider said about their upcoming wedding.
“Tom’s immature partying days are long behind him and he has spent years proving to Zendaya that he can be a really great partner and potentially an excellent father too, and their wedding will launch them into the next phase of their lives in high style,” the source added.
