Angelina Jolie Is ‘Happier Than She’s Been in a While’ and Is Ready to ‘Let Go of the Dark Times’
Angelina Jolie has been turning heads on red carpets for decades. But her appearance at the AFI premiere of Maria had some fans doing a double take. With the help of celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora, Angie, 49, swapped her signature straight locks for a voluminous mane of curls and a deep side part on October 27. Her new ’do wasn’t the only thing that had everyone talking, though. “Angie just seems happier than she’s been in a while. She was glowing at her movie premiere,” an insider exclusively tells Life & Style. “She’s really trying to let go of the dark times that she and her family have been through and live burden-free. It’s as if Angelina has had an awakening: This is her next chapter!”
LOOKING AHEAD
One reason she’s lighter: After years of court battles with ex-husband Brad Pitt, 60, Angie is ready to put the abuse accusations, nasty custody fight and ongoing lawsuit over the sale of their French winery behind her. “Angie realized she let her anger and resentment get the better of her for a long time,” says the insider. “She attributes a lot of her recent happiness to relinquishing her inner torment over Brad. And then there’s the fact that their kids are healthy and thriving.”
Her six children with the Wolfs actor — Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne — are nearly all grown, and while many parents might miss the early years, Angelina couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come.
“I love them as people; it’s been really nice,” she told Entertainment Tonight about her babies leaving the nest. “Some people are more comfortable with the baby stage, but I love this stage. I love living this life with them and watching them do and be all the things that they are.”
Angelina also has some pretty big plans for herself. The leading lady is already winning rave reviews for Maria, and is excited to spend more time in front of the camera. “She’s looking forward to turning 50 next year,” says the insider, “and taking on even meatier acting roles. She wants to travel more, too.”
Indeed, Angie has explained, she intends to visit her older kids “wherever they may be in the world” and spend more time in Cambodia once her two youngest turn 18. Will frequent companion Akala — the British rapper she’s been linked to — be accompanying her? Time will tell, but as Life & Style previously reported, Angie has opened her heart to romance once more. “She admitted she’s been thinking of marriage again,” says the insider.
Whether or not she ends up tying the knot for a fourth time, Angie is excited by all the possibilities, adds the insider: “The future may be uncertain, but it looks very bright.”
