It was Ashley Judd who sparked the avalanche of women exposing Harvey Weinstein just a few weeks ago. Now, she’s joining Diane Sawyer for her first on-camera interview, and she is revealing more details about her encounter with famed Hollywood producer. It took more than 20 years for her to come forward, but she confessed it was her mom, Naomi Judd, who inspired her to take him down.

“Go get him,” Ashley said her mom told her on the ABC News special. Ashley, 49, was the victim of sexual assault before her encounter with Harvey, writing in her memoir that she abused by multiple men, including one unnamed family member. “Perpetrators are shameless,” Ashley said. “And they put their toxic shame onto their victims, which we then internalize and carry around with us.”

So, what did Harvey Weinstein do to Ashley Judd?

In the interview, Ashley recalled how Harvey invited her to the Beverly Hills hotel for a business meeting and switched the location at the last minute to his room. Ashley, who was 28 at the time, went up to the room, where she was promptly asked if she wanted a massage and if she would give him one. “I fought with this volley of ‘no’s,’ which he ignored,” she said. “Who knows? Maybe he heard them as ‘maybe.’ Maybe he heard them as ‘yeses.’ Maybe they turned him on.”

After turning him down, Harvey proceeded to ask her to pick out his suit before insisting she come into the bathroom to watch him shower. A panicked Ashley made a deal with him just to get out of the room. “Finally I just said, ‘When I win an Oscar in one of your movies, OK?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, when you get nominated.’ I said, ‘No, when I win an Oscar.’ And then I just fled.'”

She confronted Harvey again in 1999 when he brought up their “agreement” but Ashley was not having it. “He was across from me at a table, and… I had come into my own,” she added. “I had come into my power. I had found my voice, and I was coming right at him. And he looked at me, across the table… and he said, ‘You know, Ashley, I’m going to let you out of that little agreement we made.'”

Thanks to Ashley, more than 60 women have come forward and shared their stories of harassment and abuse in the hands of the disgraced movie mogul. However, there is more to Ashley than her Harvey narrative. Keep reading to learn more about the Double Jeopardy star.
