Cameron Diaz Paused Her Hollywood Career to Raise Her Kids With Benji Madden: Meet Her Children
She may not know it, but Cameron Diaz raised younger millennials who were glued to the screen and obsessed with her rom-coms. Despite the Holiday star’s success, Cameron took a decade-long hiatus from Hollywood to focus on her children, daughter Raddix Madden and son Cardinal Madden, whom she shares with husband Benji Madden.
“That was what I was putting most of my focus on,” Cameron shared of motherhood in January 2025 while promoting Back in Action, the first film since her decade-long hiatus. “If I was doing anything other than just sort of being a mom and living my day-to-day.”
The Sweetest Thing actress continued, “That was pretty much it. I’m just trying to stay alive just like every other mother. I’m just trying to keep it going.”

The couple, who tied the knot in 2015, welcomed their daughter, Raddix, in December 2019.
Cameron and the Good Charlotte rocker announced the birth of their baby girl the following month and nicely let their fans know that they will ensure that Raddix experiences her childhood out of the spotlight.
“We are so happy, blessed, and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She instantly captured our hearts and completed our family,” the dotting parents wrote in a statement via Instagram in January 2020. “We feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy … So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really, really cute!!”
Shortly after their announcement, Us Weekly reported that Cameron and Benji welcomed Raddix via surrogate.
“They went through so much to get to this point,” a source told the publication at the time. “Cameron feels like this baby is truly a miracle.”
Cameron has yet to publicly address the surrogacy reports.

The A-listers grew their family in 2024 after their son joined the family.
Cameron and Benji announced Cardinal’s birth via Instagram that March alongside a photo of a watercolor painting and gushed about how “awesome” their boy is.
“For the kids safety and privacy we won’t be posting any pictures – but he’s a really cute [Happy face emoji] We are feeling so blessed and grateful. Sending much love from our fam to yours. Best wishes and Good Afternoon!!”
Cameron Diaz Doesn’t Sugarcoat Parenthood
Kelly Clarkson tends to make her guests feel comfortable on her self-titled daytime talk show and Cameron’s 2022 appearance was no different. The women bounced back and forth about raising kids, as the American Idol winner shares kids River Blackstock and Remy Blackstock with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
After gushing that building a family with Benji was “the best thing [she’s] ever done in life,” the Charlie’s Angels star admitted she sometimes hits her breaking point with her kids.
“And I feel like as a parent, my job is to just help her find the words to her emotions, her experience, what she’s going through and be able to help her identify that and move through it,” Cameron explained to Kelly of her eldest child, Raddix, who was then learning to communicate her emotions.
She later admitted, “But you know what’s also really imperative — to repair. Like if you do blow up, just to repair that and say, ‘Oh my God, mommy lost her s–t’ and, ‘I didn’t mean to say that to you. If I hurt your feelings or if I upset you, I just want you to know that mommy’s human too.'”
