Chiefs Coach Andy Reid Praises Taylor Swift After She Was Booed at Super Bowl: ‘She’s a Good Girl’
Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid praised Taylor Swift for how she handled being booed during Super Bowl LIX.
“She’s a good girl. She handles that whole thing the right way, that’s a tough deal. But she does a great job with handling it,” Andy, 66, said about Taylor, 35, while appearing on NFL on NBC. His comment was referencing when she was met with boos while she was featured on the jumbotron during the game at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9.
Andy went on to note that Taylor’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, also “does a great job with handling” public backlash. “She’s part of the team and like the other girlfriends and wives, they’re part of it. And that’s all part of the process,” the coach said.
Taylor attended the game to cheer on Travis, 35, and his teammates, and the Chiefs ultimately lost to the Philadelphia Eagles with a score of 40-22.
The “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” singer has been a staple at Chiefs games ever since she confirmed her romance with Travis in September 2023. Not only has Taylor gotten to know Travis’ family well while watching the games in their suite together, but she has also bonded with many of his teammates and coaches.
In January 2024, Andy revealed that he had met Taylor long before her romance with the professional athlete. “She’s been great. I knew her before, from Philadelphia,” he said during an appearance on the “Let’s Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gary” podcast.
He explained that Taylor’s dad, Scott Swift, is “a big football fan,” so he got to know the family when he coached the Eagles from 1999 and 2012. “I had met him there and her,” Andy shared, noting that Scott, 72, is a “good guy.”
Andy jokingly added that Travis wasn’t happy to learn that he knew Taylor first. “So that was the last thing Trav wanted to hear, that I knew her before him,” he recalled with a laugh. “She told him, ‘I know your coach.’ And he went, ‘Oh, God, come on!’”
The coach went on to praise their relationship, and he pointed out that Taylor clearly made the tight end “happy.”
“And there has been no distraction that way at all. And Trav’s handled it right, she’s handled it right and we just move forward,” Andy said, noting that their relationship has been a fixture in the media. “So it hasn’t been a problem at all.”
Not only has Taylor been supportive of Travis’ career, but he has also been an outspoken fan of her music. In addition to traveling around the world to watch many of her Eras tour shows, he also revealed he’s a big fan of her music.

During the Wednesday, February 26, episode of his “New Heights” podcast, Travis admitted he listens to Taylor’s music when he’s “depressed.”
“The only way to find yourself in the light is to find yourself in the dark first,” he told his brother and cohost Jason Kelce. “I listen to music that is very telling of my mood — yes.”
Travis continued, “I just listen to Taylor’s songs. She has something for everything.”
