Is it hot in here … or is it just these Dancing With the Stars pros? Summer is quickly approaching, and if you’re in need of some serious #fitspo, look no further than Sharna Burgess‘ (seriously toned) abs. Or Julianne Hough‘s legs. Or literally any one of these coordinated celebs below. Keep scrolling and prepare to be motivated as heck to hit the gym!
Whether she’s wearing pink or an LBB (little black bikini), she looks amazing. Then again, her workout routine is no joke. “I’m a big fan of Tabata because you get so much work done so quickly and you don’t even realize it,” she told Us Weekly. This method of the exercise consists of 20 seconds of intense effort (like burpees or mountain climbers) followed by 10 seconds of rest. “You’re sticking to a schedule, you can’t mosey about. You’re in and you’re out in eight minutes with this one.”
Baywatch, here he comes? Derek mainly sticks to a strict diet but admits he sometimes indulges in the occasional snack. “Well, my guilty pleasure is popcorn,” the 33-year-old told the L.A. Times back in 2016. “I’ll eat so much that I’ll get a popcorn hangover. I’ll go see the worst movie ever just to eat popcorn.”
He added, “But besides that, I eat meat, chicken, fish and a lotta greens — for the alkalinity. I used to juice a lot but noticed that I wasn’t feeling right. Juice is all sugar and acidic. The amount of sugar in a glass of juice is not normal for human beings — eight, nine, 10 apples or oranges. It messes up your system. By contrast, a single apple is packaged perfectly — lots of fiber, a little sugar. When I stopped juice and ate more greens, I noticed a big difference in mind and body — a clarity, a lightness, an energy, where you just jump out of bed.” Jump out of bed … and hit the beach!
Derek’s little sister, 30, and her husband, Brooks Laich, 35, also love hitting the gym, but the blonde beauty admitted they’re into different routines. “He’s into heavy lifting and mobility, creating the most athletic man he can be,” she told Delish in April 2018. “Whether it’s speed, agility or strength, he’s trying to do it all. Obviously, women do his type of workout as well, but it’s not my first choice. I’m more about trying to have fun and look long and lean.”
But Jules says rest is just as important as working out. “Your workout is just one part of staying healthy — the rest is sleeping and what you put into your body,” she told the outlet. Ya hear that, folks? BRB, gonna go nap.
After her impressive 2006 debut, the Ukraine-born dancer went on to star in six more seasons of DWTS. But it’s not as easy as it looks. In an interview with Larry Brown Sports, the 41-year-old revealed, “It actually takes a lot of time, we practice about 8-10 hours a day. Not every celebrity’s natural ability to dance is the same,” she told the site in 2008. “For those that struggle, you spend a lot of time trying to get the steps down. For those that are able to do it, you put in extra time because you know they can do that much better. So it takes a lot of work, firm muscles and sore feet, but the end product usually is what you’re striving for.”
She also dished on how easy it is to develop romantic feelings for your partner. “You know, when producers pair you up with your celebrity, they’re actually trying to fit your personalities together so you automatically become good friends if your personalities match. And when you do spend a lot of time in a dance studio with the same person literally attached at the hip, it’s not that hard to develop certain feelings. But you have to remind yourself that it is a show, it is a job and even if you do find your dance partner attractive, you kind of know that it’s just a three-month relationship and then you move on to the next celebrity. You develop feelings for every person you get paired up with, you pretty much go into a serious relationship three-four times a year.” Hmm … tell that to Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev!
Believe it or not, Sasha is also a member on Dancing with the Stars. The Australian-born pro and his British beauty are even more sexy thanks to their accents. Remember when we said some people are just born with it all?
Strike a pose! Though you’d think the 34-year-old is a gym rat, she actually can’t stand it. Yes, you heard that correctly. “I don’t love the gym, I don’t love being on a treadmill for hours, so I have to challenge myself,” she told Parade magazine in October 2018.
She added, “Boxing has been something that has been really fun for me because it relates to dance and how you have to memorize certain choreography when it comes to footwork, and you have to think fast, then you have to execute. So, for me, it’s similar and it just makes the time go by faster while burning so many calories.” *Immediately signs up for a boxing class at the gym.*
